I am so depressed

Published

I am taking my first semester online and I just had my first ANP1 test last week. I got a 38 out of 100! I sucked! I studied really hard, but apparently not enough. The thing of it is, is that there are only 2 more tests (not proctored) and then the final (proctored). I am also upset with the instructor. She doesn't return my emails! I also feel like she graded me unfairly on the discussion board. I responded to the subject...it was a short response, but I don't think it justified a 10 out of 20 points. I need all the points I can get! I NEED to pass this class! I am totally bummed and don't know what to do! On top of it all...they lost my test 1 exam for algebra in the testing center. I went to retake it because the instructor said I needed to be finished by Wed. ran out of time and had to leave for work in the middle of it. I hope she lets me finish it! I can't be late to work!!! Thats what pay for my schooling...sigh I think I need a stiff drink.

Thanks for listening to me whine!

Are you taking Anatomy and Physiology 1 online? I believe that's what you wrote.... but I just can't imagine how that class can be online. It's so hands on that I'd be lucky to get a 38 out of 100. I wish you the best of luck. I did well in 1 and 2, but I studied alot and went into the lab and studied even more. I can't fathom an online version.

I'm taking it online as well. It is much harder than I anticipated. I have a C right now. Our bulletin board is rarely used. I posted a question last week asking for study tips from those that made a B on the last test and I only got one reply...from someone struggling with me.

I have found a website that has the lectures online. Maybe that will help you.

I'm also taking Statistics online and discovering that the two hard classes are part of my problem. Stats isn't really that hard, it's just take consuming. I spent 5 hours working on Stats last night, just to catch up from my weekend A&P blitz. And I still only got a C on the lab test.

I wish I had some advice for you. I wish you the best of luck.

Yeah thats the trouble with online classes, the feedback is not up to par.

Hopefully you guys can take it over, dont let this discourage you. If you do take the class over, I know you will kick butt. Spend more time studying, there are a lot of websites that will help you with memorization. I will try and find the one I used throughout ANP later

A&P is difficult, so I'm sure it's even more difficult online. But whatever you do, just hang in to the end. Don't give up and study hard. You are already in it.

A & P I would not advise to take online...like OP said it is very hands on and it is your foundation in anatomy ....now A & P II is a different story...I took it online this past spring semester and did GREAT because you deal more with the body systems and their functions. I did have to buy a lab kit and perform experiments at home but other than that it was fine. I would recommend it to anyone.;)

have no time for wife, nor friends, nor hobies, nor even eat right!

i am constantly tired, have lots of caffeine, have no life at all, and my wife is ****** at me because i have no time for her, she is so ****** that it even scares me, plus also i get overwelmed with schooling + having to work full time + no support at all + i just want to put a whole in the wall!

I hear you Csantos (but on a much smaller scale-I'm not as busy as you-yet!). I just look at how well I've been doing and know it's worth it.

OP, don't get too down on yourself. We don't always do good on every test. If you let it get to you it might ruin the rest of your concentration, and that's never good. Just keep your chin up and remind yourself that one bad test is NOT going to stop you from getting that degree!

you are taking a&p online?...the schools i applied to would only accept a&p 1 and 2 only if there were labs...any way...good luck to you.keep your head up:paw:

i dont care about the grades, it does not take much for me to do well is the fact that i dont have time, just plain no time at all! i go to school in the morning and early afternoon and then work full time!

I took A&P I and II online and I absolutely LOVED it! But I had an excellent teacher who always answered e-mails and she even had one night a week where we could chat live with her. We also had to be on campus twice for each class for all day Saturday labs. Having a good teacher is critical to being successful at online courses. I'm sorry yours is not very good. We also did very hands on labs at home. We had to disect hearts and what not at home. We had to go to a butcher and get sheep parts. So although it was an online course, we still had plenty of work to do.

The best advice I can give you as far as discussions is to not write short answers. Really put an effort into it. Discussions usually are not very difficult. Just write enough so the teacher will see the effort you put forth. Short, simple answers = little effort in the eyes of the teacher. I know it's hard when you have a busy life, but you've just got to figure out how to make the time. Even if it means you only sleep for a couple of hours a night here and there.

As far a advice on the tests, print out every little lecture note the teacher posts (if she does). And put the notes in an order that makes sense to you. Write out everything you're having trouble understanding into your own words and then try to understand them in a more technical way. I would say ask you teacher for advice would be helpful but if she doesn't return your e-mails that will be kind of hard. If you have to, go to another techer for help.

Also, many colleges offer smartthinking.com for free for their students. If they do, use it! If not, you can pay for it out of your pocket and believe me, it is worth it. I have gotten a massive amount of help from smartthinking.com.

Also, see if your school has peer tutoring. If you can't go in for tutoring because of work, they may be able to arrange for you to get some tutoring over the phone.

I hope some of this helps you. I've taking many classes online so if I can help you some more, let me know. I would be glad to help you. I take A&P I and II online and I got A's in both so I can definitely help you if you need it.
