How many others are in an accelerated program?

How many brethren/sisters are like myself and putting themselves through pain for an accelerated BSN program?

I wish I were. I'd love to be about wrapped up. Alas, another year to go.

I'm hoping to get into the Kennesaw State program this fall. Which one are you attending?

Specializes in Peds OR as RN, Peds ENT as NP.

Ummmm YESSSSSSSSSSS! We even got shirts made with nursing diagnoses for ourselves. I feel you, trust me. Whatever you are feeling I am feeling. I keep telling myself : You're done in December, you're done in december....."

Hang in there!

I'm not, sorry. I could have, but cramming 2 years of a BSN program into just 1 year is something I can't handle.

I am and have never been sooo stressed in my life! I will be done in August and it can't come soon enough. I am so burnt out and just feel so unmotivated right now...6 more months!

Lol. I must have had some serious stress innoculation in my life. I don't perceive school as stressful. Its more like a vacation: Im paying money for a guide to talk randomly about stuffwhile stuck in a cabin with other obnoxious tourists, and I should really be at work instead. Only the guide is a teacher, the cabin is class, and the tourists are students.

Specializes in Aspiring to become something great!.

I am and it's amazing! The only difference between us and the traditional folks, is that we go all year w/o summers off.

For the folks who are already in A-BSN programs:

What would be your thoughts on deciding between two A-BSN programs, one that runs 15 months and has summer off (time for internships) or one that runs 12 months with no time off? I originally was thinking that the shorter, 12 month program would be more beneficial, due to quicker time into the profession, but I'm now leaning towards having a mental break period and some internship time during a summer off instead. I'm hoping that an internship would lead to more job opportunities...

Any and all thoughts are appreciated!! :)

I'd choose the 12 month program.

I think you should make your own thread about this. People may see it there better than here in another thread. Just sayin!

I agree with you! Another poster mentioned that they couldn't see "cramming" the 2 year program into 1 year, but for my program, the only clear difference is that we don't have summers off, which actually makes it easier for us to remember what we've learned, in my opinion. I don't think I could handle a 2 or 2.5 year nursing program with summers off because I would not be self-motivated to study over the summer and I would forget more.

I'm in an ABSN program. I'll be done in August and it can't come soon enough! Only 6 months left! It'll be nice to see my husband again. I think he has brown hair and I seem to recall brown eyes as well... :lol2:
