How long is your program?

Just curious, how long is your program?

I am starting my program on Tuesday, and it's a short program (at least I think it is). It's only 2 semesters long if you have already completed the basic prerequisites like A&P, psych and sociology, which I have, and a total of just 6 nursing classes. So all in all, I have to take 30 credits (15 this semester and 15 in the fall), and will only spend about 8 months in school total.

What about you?

My program is 10 months September to June graduate in July

My LPN Program is also 8 months. Fall and Spring semesters from August to May. It is normally three semesters if you have not already completed A&P, English, Psych, etc.

My program is 1 year

My Program is 14months

I think mine is still the shortest. Wow. I recalculated it, and it's really only 7 months, not 8. It was about 3 1/2 last semester and is 3 1/2 this semester.

Mine is 10 months, spanned from January 17th-December 18th. And a full month off that sadly ends tomorrow :/

Awesome! I'm Not sure when my classes will be done, but if it's the same as last semester, I'll be done two weeks before graduation. I hope so! I also hope this semester is easier than las semester like I've been told by multiple sources *crossesfingers* Good luck to you too!

12 months! Only being that classes are given in specific sessions!

The program I recently got selected for is 13 months which isn't too bad at all just like the many other LVN/LPN programs out there.

WOW!, that's intense! But from my understanding, and correct me if I'm wrong, in Canada LPN programs are more like American RN programs?

Hello SingDanceRunLife! I had not noticed your June 16 (2015) message, sorry for my very late reply! In Quebec, it's actually 18 months : my vocational school lied on its advertisements.

In most schools, it's 18 consecutive months, and if the Summer is off, it's 2 years long, while the RN program is 3 years long.

In Quebec, it is taught at vocational schools, but in the rest of Canada, it is taught at the college level, if I am not wrong.

Reason: Quebec is the only province where RN can study at the college level. Not a lot were studying at the university level.

So in Quebec, there are two programs at the university level: a 2-year long for current RNs, a 3-year long for non-RN.

I doubt that Canadian LPN programs are the equivalent of the USA RN programs. But I agree that it's longer, so it must be an in-between! I personally think that the Canadian LPN programs are the equivalent of the RN programs of 50 years ago : closer to the patient.
