Helpful 'mnemonics'.?

Please share any helpful mnemonics you have found useful! ( I love these!)

For example, a classmate shared today:

A-Announce yourself, knock before entering the room

W-Wash hands

I- Introduce yourself

P-Provide privacy, pull curtain

E-Explain procedure being done

Any little memory tricks like this you can share are much appreciated! Thanks!

Some of the ones I still use (hope they don't offend anyone)

On old olympus' towering tops a friendly Viking grew vines and hops - cranial nerves

Some say marry money but my brother says big b**bs matter more - motor/sensory CNs

Chicago - lymphadenopathy

Oldcart - symptom analysis

Sits - rotator cuff muscles

Some lovers try positions they can't handle - carpal bones

All patients take meds - cardiac landmarks

Dave Wilmington - admit orders

AWIPE, really. First thing I think of is asswipe ha ha.

If you have an ipod, pad, or iphone you can download 'Med Mnemonics'. They have a ton preloaded, and you can edit existing ones or add your own.

Thanks a TON EJM! Only had a quick minute to checkout that site, but love it already, and going to share with my classmates! Thanks so much!

alas, i am the person who adores a good joke and can't remember it an hour later to repeat to someone else to save my soul.

i'm the same with mnemonics-- they make perfect sense to me, i appreciate them, i try to commit them to memory-- and in no time they are lost to the mists of time.

i can't even blame it on crss (can't remember {stuff} syndrome) or old timer's disease. i've never been able to retain them. dangitol.

That's my problem. I'm terrible at remembering jokes and just as bad at mnemonics. I'm more likely to just straight up remember ridiculous lists of information. Sad.

hahaha!!! i have a coffee mug with those same letters on it.....and for the same reason too! trouble is, i can't remember where i put the flippin' thing the last time i used it......

The best way to remember them is to tweek them or make them up yourself. Make up little rhymes or relate two pieces of info yourself. For instance, in first semester I would forget that with an incentive spirometer you have to breathe in not out. Then I looked at the word "incentive" and noted the first two letters spell "in". Now I'll never forget it. :)
