HELP!!! After pursuing my RN, and taking pre-req's at one school & attending another for my ADN, I am one humanities class short for my ADN. I plan to finish in December. The dilemma is further complicated by the budget situations in CA. The chances of any humanities classes being offered this summer is pretty low. I am trying to figure out where to get the lousy 3 units that I need. I would prefer an online class, where time away from home is minimal. Also, I would really like to do this before I start my last semester mid August. Any ideas where to look???? $$ is somewhat of a factor, but if I find something that works, I will figure that part out too. TIA

Is there another community college in the area where you can take the course over the summer and transfer to your school...
Semester Kid thanks for responding. More than likely, those CC will have the same budget issues. Keeping fingers crossed for that to happen, but chances are it will not. I am thinking out of state or a private school?? or???
Look at some on line courses - my school accepts them. Is there a specific course you're looking at to cover teh requirement?

I'm sure you'll get more suggestions if you keep the thread active. But when you need an online course, I'd start by checking Phoenix or Kaplan:

Can you take a CLEP exam and test out of the three credits of humanities you still need? Ask your advisor or someone in the academic counseling center at your CC about this.
Also, if you take a course elsewhere, make sure it will transfer before you take it. You don't want to waste time and money on a course if your CC won't transfer it in.
Wishing you the best in this!

You're actually in a pretty good spot, you just need to do a little research. A lot of classes can satisfy a humanities requirement. You're in CA and think of how many community colleges are in the state of CA :) You're bound to run across a couple (hundred...) online humanties classes somewhere in your state. Think Religion, History, etc..... Get on Google! :)

Eastern Oregon University does weird terms- starting around now I think. EOU doesn't charge out of state tuition for online classes. In AZ Rio Salado does courses that are 8 weeks and can start any Monday in a given range. Perhaps somewhere in CA does the same and you could take the course before summer. I'm assuming when you refer to budget issues that there isn't going to be summer courses offered in CA this year?

LSU has online and correspondence classes that you can start at any time and finish very quickly. I had to do the same thing because in my first bachelor's, I tested out of English Comp I, but my nursing school didn't accept it. So even though I had a degree already I had to go back and take English Comp I, lol. I don't have the specific link to that department, but their main website is lsu.edu

Maybe try the UC extension. I'd go with the community college route, but if you're desperate it's worth looking into. They are a lot of UC humanities classes offered during the summer. What area are you from. I may be able to help you. I use to work at UCD's extension office :)

Try LSU. They have a lot of independent learning courses that are available to the public. When I got my BS degree (non- nursing), I was short for a literature class and I signed up through LSU with the recommendation of my counselor and I transferred it right in and made graduation with my class.
