Hello Semester #2!

So semester 2 of my 4 semester nursing program starts tomorrow. Break wasn't even close to long enough to catch up on cleaning my house, organizing my portfolio and other school things, and everything else I had on my list to do over Christmas break!

I have to say, I was so nervous going into the first semester. I had no idea what to expect! I've heard all of the typical nursing school advice... "Time will fly!," "If it can happen, it will happen in nursing school!," "Read your chapters!" Soooo much advice to take in, and ALL of it was true! It was a whirlwind first semester!

It didn't help that instructors and policy changed abruptly before my semester started. That fact alone made the entire program seem like a tangled mess of.... well, nothing that I could make out! Apparently, that's par for the course, however. I survived! I actually did really well considering I have two young children at home and a husband that I was also managing. Our course tests in all areas as well as clinical grades are combined into one grade for the semester. 92% is an A, and I pulled out a 91. Aiming for an A this semester! I know it only gets harder the deeper we get into school... and I'm never disappointed with a B!

Congrats to those who are still trucking along. Hope I have more time this semester to.... breathe :)

congrats on your grade i pulled a B(85) too, but at my school a 89.5 is still a A, school starts tomorrow, good luck!!!

I start Wed and a 92 is also considered an A =). I feel the same as you - break was nowhere near long enough - but I am ready to dive back in, I think at least! =) Good luck w/your semester!

Any additional advice for first semester students? Congrats on your successful semester and many well wishes for the next one! Way to go!

Interesting. I am not in the program yet but the nursing grading system is different. I first came aware of this when I took medical terminology and anything under 93% was a B:rolleyes:. I guess they thought it was too easy. I ended up a 96% in that class. The nursing program actually relaxes this by one point.

92-100 A

83-91 B

75-82 C

70-74 D

0 - 69 F

You have to get a minimum of a C in all the NS classes.

We started last week, for some reason. It is nice to have one semester under your belt!

I'm about to start my second semester on Thursday, and it starts off with a clinical, not even a class!

This is my second time in second semester, I failed last year, but I'm ready.

Hopefully all the stress won't get to me this time!

93 is an A at my school. Let's see how I do, this is my first semester. I have straight A's in my pre-req's. Good luck to you guys.

I start my 3rd semester in 2 weeks !! Can't wait. 2 down and 2 to go. Let the count down to graduation begin
