Heart that squeaks

Published

Why does my heart squeak sometimes? Normally when I'm worked up (emotionally/physically). I can hear my heart squeak on each beat, without a stethoscope.

What's the deal?

I hadn't realised, sorry.

I've made an appointment already, but what with it being Christmas time I have to wait a while.

I can't seem to find any information on the internet at all just to read up on the area, is anyone able to point me in a direction where I can get more information to read about myself?, Is that allowed?

Hello Blueblood,

Not to be alarmist, but I would pay a visit to urgent care! Of course it is impossible to say exactly what is going on, but what you are describing sounds like the "friction rub" that happens sometimes in pericarditis. I know, because I had it, and it was not fun. Go get it checked out.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it. It will be interesting to know what my GP says. I don't want to worry about it until I know for sure.

I agree that Pericarditis is the closest explanation but I'm not totally convinced because I don't get chest pains, and I would have thought that my doctor would have noticed this in the past whenever he's used a stethoscope on me in the past? Also, this has been happening for years!

I didn't realise that this was a rare thing, I just assumed everyone's heart squeaked?!

Sometimes when hearts make a squeaking or quacking sound it is a narrow valve but I have never heard of a stenosed valve in a 22 yo. Go see your md asap. Even if you cant get an appt, just tell him what you told us.

You need to get advice from your GP. As already mentioned we cannot give medical advice here
