HCC Spring 2017 Nursing Program

Anyone out there know if they are applying for the 2017 Nursing program for HCC (Hillsborough Community College)? I am! Just realized I want to do this so I'm taking A&P 1 and 2, microbiology, and sociology this summer. Apparently its called the crazy train! Anyone else doing something similar?

She was totally okay with it but it's not up to her unfortunately :(

I basically have to take the lower level Micro for it to count ugh

Don't give up hope!!! It doesn't make sense that they would accept high math courses yet not sciences. You can always appeal it! Fingers crossed for you!!

I am thinking, and hoping, for the 3rd. So happy they did away with snail mail and do emails.... we would be stalking our mail carriers, lol.

My stress level is ridiculous right now lol :grumpy:

It will be here before you know it im just going to enjoy this weekend.

Thank you. I'm just super bummed that I have to retake it. It doesn't show in my transcript at all.

I also took a higher Micro than what's required (MCB 2010) for my Bachelors. I was told via email prior to application deadline that although my micro is higher than what is offered at HCC it will be counted towards the completion of the prerequisite requirement... It doesn't show as a transferred credit in my academic evaluation, but I was told that by a health science admissions counselor. Also when I went in to see an advisor at the Dale Mabry Campus, I was told that my micro would be fine.

May I ask who told you it may not be ok?

You still haven't had any issues with your micro credit being accepted? My last transcript just showed up on hawknet and it also shows MCB2010 on my transcript, but nothing on my academic evaluation. So frustrating because I'm out of state and can't waltz onto campus about it. I earned an A in that class and I really really reallllllly don't want to take that beast again

I don't blame you. I will be super peeved if they can't accept mine. That's been weighing on my mind ever since I started applying HCC and submitting all my stuff over. :sorry:

I'm sorry! Keeping fingers crossed for you! I would definitely appeal it especially if am advisor "advised" that they shouldn't have a problem accepting it!

Some of my classes aren't on my transcripts .. is not showing up on progress towards degree? Sorry so many questions, I have a bad issue with trying to solve problems, lol.

Hi UCFAshley... I have had issues with micro.. it does not show on my academic evaluation, but does appear on my transcript. I was told that it would count towards pre-reqs though. It will not count towards completion of pre-reqs/degree until I am admitted into the progam and have an advisor change it. But I was told that the 2010 credits will be accepted by HCC.

I have done a small amount of research (haven't found much) about ITT Tech closing and how it will affect HCC. In general, HCC is trying to help ITT Tech students as best as they can, but due to different accreditations and courses the students may have a difficult time transferring anywhere, including HCC. This is not specific to the nursing program, but is in general for the institutions.. it likely does apply to the nursing program though.

HCC and SPC have "rapid response teams" available for previous ITT Tech students to help with advising, financial aid, and credit evaluation. If you know anyone from ITT Tech, let them know about the help they can receive.

Hopefully the students from ITT Tech can figure out a path and find a way to transfer. And hopefully we all get good news in a week or so!! Fingers crossed for us all!

Hi I know I'm new to the forum. However, I don't thing we have anything to fear from ITT students as they would be subjected to the same scrutiny that we all have been placed under. To do any less would bring a plethora of lawsuits that I'm not sure Hcc is willing to deal with.

It's so sad, the issue that caused them to close was because of accreditation stuff. Can you imagine working hard to pay for school then it doesn't even count. The main company ITT should be held accountable.
