has this happend to you?

Published

I just finished my first semester of school and am beginning my second...At my school you need to get a 73 in order to pass. After my finals I calculated a final grade of 72.6 and realized I failed. However one of the questions was thrown out so I ended up with a 73.2. I can't help but feeling almost undeserving of moving forward and am wondering if anyone else has sqeeked by and how they felt about it.

Thanks

Dawn

I had a professor once tell me that sometimes grades have absolutely nothing do with our ability to be an amazing, caring, competent nurse. I always think about this when I squeek by or don't do as well as I wanted. Keep going! Use this as a fire to get you through the rest of your courses.

Take it and run!

I agree with DixieRedHead: - take it and run before they change their mind! Unlike regular college courses where a D- is passing, nursing classes have higher standards. So run like the wind!

Not for a course grade but for a test and I was sure as heck happy to have them throw at a question that took me from failing that test to passing. Hey, sometimes you gotta take that in nursing school. Of course you go back and analyze your weaknesses and work on it but don't beat yourself up. And by the way, sometimes some test questions are poorly written and deserve to be thrown out so don't feel bad.

I've been in your situation before. Just continue to work hard and things will be fine.

Quite a few ppl have told me to take the grade and run...lol thx!

Your lucky and should be glad . I second what mango stated some questions are wrongly worded. Another fact is staff looks at the student body how many students got that particular questions wrong. If a lot of students got it wrong then that questions if flawed.

goodluck .

It is refreshing that your a bit worried cause it shows responsibility , assess the questions if you know which one it is and move forward ,,

ps sadly but true is that there are a few students who pass the nursing curriculum by skin or their teeths or by points been given for altenate answer or questions been throw out.

That has happened to me. We had to pass with a 75 or higher. I barely passed my 3rd with a 74.8 or something like that. We had a lot of drama that semester with teacher changes and stuff so they let a few of us pass if we got a 74.5 or higher. I felt the same way you did, but in the end I was happy to pass. I had done well most of the semester, but struggled at the end. Like mangopeach said I would review my weaknesses. Just keep moving forward and be proud you passed. :)

Good evening dawn. i couldn't help but notice this post, i use to feel like that all the time.. i know when i first started in the medical field going forward with A&P and medical terminology and classes such as that,i would just pass by a hair.. it pushed me more and more to get that grade up.. i think you should be proud of yourself.. you worked hard and your moving on! keep going and good luck!! =)

Learn from this. Improve your study habits and work harder. That is the best way to make up for your feelings. Good luck!
