does anyone have an example of how they broke it down to study the grids? and do the grids have to be exact or can you use your own version? i have some examples. and you are allowed to bring study aides in your room?

also, what about the care plans, do you break those down to study those too?

im so nervous and im not even close to this yet. im an over- preparer

Hi Jenn - I gather you are currently an LPN (91-C) in the ARmy? Am unsure what "grids" you are talking about. Could you please be more specific? Thanks.

I assume she is speaking of the grids that Excelsior students use for the CPNE. I am sure some one will chime in and help better than I. I did not use them. It is a way of memorizing the critical elements for each area of care and then writting them on the back of your paper after the test starts. I can only tell you what I did. I read the carjack (study guide for CPNE) 2x then, practiced those things with my everyday work at the hospital.

Good luck to you

If you PM me and provide your personal email address, I will send you my files which include 4 or 5 different ways to set up your grid. When I set out to make my grid I couldn't remember other people's mnemonics, so I just took each Critical Element under each Area of Care in the CPNE study guide and put it into my own words to come up with a mnemonic that worked for me. It was hard, but worth the effort. I took the CPNE 9 months ago and still remember most by heart which comes in handy when doing a patient assessment in real life!

Anticoagulationurse provides some good materials. You can also find other materials in the files sections of Yahoo CPNE/Excelsior study groups. Some of it is more useful than other material.
