i've been attending goodwin for a year now & i'm not sure if i want to stay there. has anyone been in their nursing program or in it now. i need some kind of solitude, they have changed some of the criteria making it extremely hard to get in the program. i still have a ways to go but i'm kinda torn b/c i had a good last two semesters but the advisors are discouraging and quite frankly i don't think they know their elbow from thei ass****.

what don't you like about goodwin? how have they changed the criteria (more credits, higher required gpa, etc?) to make it harder? the reason i ask is i was considering goodwin before i started excelsior and still might consider looking into going there if excelsior does not go well...maybe you can help me avoid making a mistake (costly mistake!). curious to hear your response. thanks.
zeno they just made some revisions to their point system upon entering the program. if u don't have enough points & a high gpa (basically 4.0) they wont even look @ you.

I'm a student at Goodwin. I have to take Micro starting tomorrow and then I am done with all my pre reqs. My understanding of why they changed the program was that nobody was able to pass the NCLEX. Basically, people were getting into the program that probably has no business being in there. With their new requirements, their NCLEX scores should go up which is crucial to them keeping their accredidation. I think they have definitely got some problems at that school but I hear their nursing program, once in, is good. I submitted my ap for a January start and have to interview but hope that I get in. I have a 3.9 GPA so I am hoping that will be good enough. Best of luck to you.
Thanks for the feedback. Good luck to you in the program.
hey nuturing, i did hear that they had a low passing rate on the nclex. i'm taking chem this semester and reeeaaaly nervous about it. did u take chem @ goodwin, if so who did u have?
I had Dr. Daar for chem and she is awesome. I hope you have her. if you do, just study all of her study guides and you will be fine on her exams. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I graduated from Goodwin's nursing program in May. The school definately has its problems but the program is still very new. I am happy to say that the 3rd graduating class which I was a part of has a very high NCLEX passing rate. Hang in there, it will be wellworth it!:wink2:

i agree w marino. i am also nursing 4th semester student in goodwin college. the program is fairly new. Lois did great and now Jen took over the program and she is doing her best. i think it is a great idea to better screen students that are being accepted to nursing program.
reese 28, stick with the program. it is not easy but you can do it!

They have instituted many changes but believe me they are for the better. Please don't get discouraged. I am in my 4th semester @ Goodwin and I couldn't be happier.

My instructor teaches at Goodwin and he said it is a good school. They are making some changes, since the program is still new. Like Jess said, do not be discouraged.
