Hello everyone,
It has been few months since I joined this site. I found it very helpful as I struggled to gain my first nursing job. A little background, it has been over two years since I graduated yet I have never worked as a nurse. I have never worked in healthcare field. I applied for various jobs with no luck of being employed. I finally reached my limits and decided to give up on nursing job search. I found a training center that trains people to work in the hospitality industry with guaranteed job placement. My question is when my nursing license expires is it worth the process of renewal? Or is there still hope to gain nursing employment?

Place the license in an inactive status.

You haven't found anything? Where do you live? I would keep it active just in case. Never know who you will meet!

I had to leave my state for experience and I was so glad I did. I was able to move back with a good job, excellent pay and benefits. I had to go outside my comfort zone and sacrifice for a couple years to make my dream happen. If you really love nursing, you may have to go where the jobs exist for new grads to get where you want to be, if this is not possible perhaps consider all other options.

Keep your license no matter what. It's like a gold bracelet. It's an accomplishment.

It varies state to state but generally it is pretty easy to maintain your license (usually just a simple application + proof of CEU's). You never know. I would renew it.

I'm not working right now & I don't know when I will go back to work. I thought about putting it in inactive status. But to me, it's worth keeping it active just in case I need it one day. You just never know. Plus you worked so hard for it.

Your state may require a certain number of hours per renewal period to keep your license active, if so, place it on inactive status. If not keep it active.
Here's a fun idea. Camp season is soon upon us. If you like outdoorsy things it's perfect! You can take your kids too!
