I did the same thing, but this was early this summer before I decided to go back to school. I got P90X, put a gym in my house, and went crazy for about 13 weeks.
It sucked ass, I had to drag myself down there, but it was worth it at the beach this summer. The first time a woman said I looked "jacked" I smiled for hours.
The hardest part is doing it, after working out, you feel great. If I could sell willpower in a can, I'm be rich. NM, i'd use it all myself.

totally going through it! in may 2006 i had a baby and took the summer off from school. i was losing the baby weight just fine. in fact, i was about 10 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight.
and then...
fall 2006 semester started! and the weight has just been comin' and comin'! i'm at the highest weight i've ever been. there were some parts of this past year where i tried to eat healthy and exercised but eventually fell back into eating junk and being lazy.
it's just so hard to eat healthy when the people you live with don't want to. temptation is all around!
i definitely want to give eating healthy/exercising another shot. i don't want to gain more weight.

Hubby was told on his orientation day that they would put on weight if they are not disciplined to do excercise daily.
He has got in the routine of getting on the treadmill daily.
Good practices to start with.

I agree with pp. You need to put exercise on your list of things to do daily. If you have a day planner, put that time in your planner and set it in stone, like a meeting or a dr's appt. In other words, make it time that you can't schedule anything else. I haven't started nursing school yet, but over the summer took on a exercise and diet regimen(The Biggest Loser diet) and I've lost about 30 lbs. so far in a couple of months. You just need to stick with it. Good luck to you!!!
Sincerely,

How about this idea, you can study and exercise at the same time. Try taping your lectures (if the teacher allows) and go for a brisk, long walk while listening to the tapes of lecture. Killing two birds with one stone that way, you are exercising AND studying at the same time. I'd much rather take a real walk over doing the treadmill anyday.

Ugh- I graduated in May. I hate to tell you..but it gets worse. I was concerned about the few lbs I put on during school. But...omg...this summer while studying for boards..I put on almost 15 lbs. All I did was study..so there was little activity.
Of course..now I have a great paying job...so I intend to join the gym.
Thanks for everyone replies,..it does get discouraging, but I need to lose this extra weight..has anyone ever used a recumbant bike? can you really lose weight on it like a treadmill? My father in law is giving me his new one because he is too sick to use it anymore. thanks again,
AMY

i am overweight and i do not blame school. i am at home with my two little ones all day (with the exception of school) and i believe that is why i eat too much. i am looking forward to fall classes to keep me busier that my mind is not on eating junk all day:)

This would be a great idea if there was actually time in the day to plan it. Between working, school, studying, clinical paperwork and activities of daily living (eating, showering) there really isn't time for exercise. My apartment barely gets cleaned when I am in school.

I was in the same boat until I decided the only way that I would exercise is if I took a class and got a grade. This is the only way I'm forced to go. What a difference.
We make time in life for those things which are most important to us. There is no "I didn't have time," only "I didn't make time."
Not trying to start a family feud, but earlier this year I was a fat ass. I kept putting it off, was too busy for years. I finally setup a gym in my garage with some cheap gym equipment, went on Nutrisystem and P90X. With only 13 weeks of working out every single day my big gut went to hard abs. I've got a freaking sixpack for the first time in my life.
It finally got important enough to me to make the time to do it. I made it a priority and scheduled time to do it. To be perfectly honest, it sucked hard, but now I'm extremely happy with myself.
