Fall 2017 Chat

Started my first semester of Nursing school on August 21. I'm taking Essentials in Nursing and Health Assessment. I go to a Christian University so I'm also required to take the New Testament and Old Testament. I'm taking the New testament this semester along with the two nursing classes. So far so good.

I thought the lab part of Micro was SO fun! It was one of my favorite classes.

So far, I hated micro lol

Honestly, I don't like it at all but I suppose it's too soon to judge. I should wait a couple more weeks.

My instructor talks about unrelated subjects and doesn't really teach

The first week or two of micro was very boring. It was all about learning aseptic technique, but it was very useful! Micro lab was by far my favorite science. I loved taking samples and using those techniques to grow the cultures on agar plates. My favorite part was our final project, using all the skills from the quarter to identify our mystery bacteria.

It's all systems go on this front - 5 classes, plus working full-time as a tutor on campus

Intro to Philosophy

Lifespan Psychology [Hybrid]

Fundementals of Speech - Was hoping to avoid having to take this one... Not so lucky ;(

English Comp2 - I have to take this for credit, even though I tutor this subject #WoeIsMe

Algebra and Trigenometry [Online] - (took this instead of pre-calc because it satisfied requirements for my Bachelors, but we didn't have any decent pre-calc Professors posted this semester )

Thankfully it's not been too rough so far, but it will get pretty hectic in the future - I'm glad that I can study while I'm at work as long as I don't have any clients. If I keep plowing through my trig coursework, I can hopefully finish the course early and leave more time for my final projects!

Hey all! I hope everyone is having a successful semester. I took my first A&P test last week and boy was it tougher than I anticipated. I squeaked by with a low A( 91.2) and am glad the first test is out of the way and I know his testing format. Hope to hear about all of your successes!

Well the first lecture exams are not starting off on quite the right foot:

A&P II: 81%

Microbiology: 78.25%

College Algebra is up next on Wednesday and A&P II lab exam on Saturday.

The first tests were always the most difficult for me with a new teacher - I didn't know how to study quite yet. You'll get there.

For those that didn't know, I was accepted to my first choice nursing school.

Learning all the bones and features of the bones of the axial and appendicular skeleton has been overwhelming! How did you all manage it?! Ive been trying to chunk the info. I'm definitely a bigger fan of the physiology part of class than the anatomy, it bores me to tears!

Hi all, I wish I had seen this thread sooner! I'm just starting prereqs to apply to a MEPN program... have a degree in social work and have been working in the field for almost a decade. I took nutrition over the summer and really enjoyed it. I also found it pretty easy so it was nice to get my feet wet back in the world of being student.

This semester I am taking chem with a lab and A&P I with lab. Chemistry is definitely not my strong suit but so far, so good there. A&P has been my an awesome class, my instructor is just amazing and makes it really enjoyable! We just took our first lecture exam and practical and I scored over 100% on each (he always offers a few extra credit points on each). I'm pretty happy! But he did warn us that these were the easiest exam and practical we will take (in A&P I and A&P II).

I'm just a tad unsure of myself and being able to change careers to something so different than what I am used to, but I am also determined. I had originally wanted to be a nurse 15 yrs ago when going to school the first time (I worked as a CNA for 8 years from the time I left high school until I finished my social work degree) but chose social work for other reasons... I truly believe I can be a great nurse if I can get through and learn everything I need to!
