Hi I'm a 3 semester nursing student @ Morrisville State College & I hate their program!! I'm struggling in the 2nd part of med surg & need to pull atleast an 85 on every test left this semester. Please help!! I can't find a tutor & I'm afraid I'm going to fail, I've already repeated Nursing 2 so I really need to move forward. This semester includes cardiac, maternity, & psych. I thought about withdrawing & doing Excelsior Online. Somebody please give me some advice.

What do you need advice with specifically?
I don't know it I should stick out the semester @ Morrisville & possibly fail or go ahead with the transfer next month in MVCC cramming maternity & psych into 8 wks together.

Is there anyway you can go to part time? It seems like squishing more info/classes into a smaller amount of time would not be helpful. I don't think going the online route would be any easier. I took A & P through excelsior and found it EXTREMELY time consuming and difficult compared to having that interaction with a real person. I would talk to your advisor and see what they think.

Here is some useful advice:
Speak with your MedSurg instructor...have them help you identify why you are having difficulty...and then work with the instructor to develop a plan that you will follow to strengthen your knowledge in this area.
If that doesn't work, go see your program director and voice the same concerns and let them know why the first method didn't work.
Running away from your program is not going to change why you are struggling...you need to address why you are failing and fix that! Good luck!
Thank you for your opinions. I had a chance to really put some thought into it today & I am going to stick it out while changing my study habbits. I just want to graduate so bad that is beginning to ware on me! Please pray that I will be successful, thank you!

Not exactly sure as to how to help, but I think this MIGHT help you. I know its a nursing course, BUT what about getting someone who is good in biology to help you. Like someone who is good in a&p stuff, I think that if you get the a&p really good, it should help you to answer some of the questions better and make the nursing interventions make more sense. Yet, still talk to your teacher or someone who is passing the course.

No, don't go to someone who knows about biology, go to your instructor or advisor in the program. They will help you to think like a nurse when it comes time to answering test questions.

Less time online, more time studying.
Good luck.

Yeah I would go to the advisor because I had problems in that same area and my instructor paired me up with someone who knew that area better. It was hard work but it paid off and I appreciated all the help I recieved from my classmates and instructor

Definitely agree with talking to your instructor, since they can review your tests they can help you best to figure out what you need to focus on.
Does your school offering any tutoring? Our program offers free tutoring to all nursing students and when a tutor is needed, they are very prompt in setting it up. We have tons of free services for us.

Leave morrisville state college, if you have not already done so. It is a horrible program(as you know). Racial discrimation in their program is also a serious issue there. Please listen to this. Leave.
