I am excited but nervous. I am coming from community health and am soooo needing a change. This is stepping out of my comfort zone a bit, but that excites me a little :) Any advice? TIA!!!

I started working in my ED about a month ago after working for 3 1/2 years on a cardiology stepdown floor. I love it. At times it's overwhelming and I am learning to deal with that by prioritizing and remembering that I can only do one thing at time. My advice to you is:
I feel like making the move to the ED was one of the best decisions I ever made. It's a different kind of nursing, raw and untamed. Good luck to you.

Congrats... Get your brain ready for all the information you'll be needing to fit in!! :)
I do recommend you brush up on the difference between "except" and "accept," though.

What kind of orientation are you going to get? I've toyed with the idea of trying out the ED, but I worry a bit about how much training I would get.
As a nurse for two years (and NICU at that), I would be essentially at the new grad level (especially in terms of procedural things, less so for pharm and patho).
Still, something I think I would like to at least try at some point. Congrats on taking the leap!
