EBP Topic Ideas

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

Hi Everyone!! :D

For my nursing research class we are having to choose a topic for an evidence based practice (EBP) research paper..making up a PICO question etc..the topic has to involve an action that us as the nurse does (not a practice for doctors, pharmacists, etc). As nursing students we are not fully aware of all the issues/controversies/interventions lacking adequate research that currently occur in the field.

What are some of the hot topics??

We've thought about for example IM injections (whether to aspirate or not), and support for the "golden hour" in OB..

Any other ideas that we can find an adequate amount of research articles on?? Please and thank you!!

Ventilator acquires pneumonia, lots of nursing interventions :)

Some ideas and maybe you can search what catches your eye on your library database.

ANA Journal Topics

Thanks everyone! I will check out these websites and I have been playing around on my school's database. Unfortunately someone already took ventilator acquired pneumonia

Hi, I had a quick question, when you work Per Diem at an urgent care facility, can you give them the days of availability and thats when they call you or are you ecpected to be on call 7 days a week?

Hi! I am a senior in nursing school and currently enrolled in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. We have to write an evidence-based practice paper emphasizing best practices pertinent to a mental health nursing topic so since I have no experience in psychiatric nursing and don't really know what kind of problems psychiatric nurses face, I thought I would ask on here. What kind of mental health clinical nursing issues do you guys think are most pertinent in psychiatric nursing practice right now? The example my professor gave was "caring for a client who is in seclusion". Thanks for your input!

Hi, this is my last class for my BSN. I am trying to find an interesting nursing topic that requires change. I work med surg but I am interested in pitocin/induction rates, NPO during labor, IV site changes and drawing blood off IV lines.

Does anyone recommend one of these topics over the other and or have other suggestions?

Thanks

The last three topics you listed should have a good bit of research already available. I'd suggesting going to an online database like Cochrane or Ebsco and doing a search of each one. Make sure you can find 5+ recent studies (within the past 3-5 years). Of those that have enough supporting documentation, pick the one you find most interesting.
