  1. thanks nursel56, I prob did dodge a bullet, il just move forward knowing how to handle the next position. thanks
  2. You are right, that is what probably happened. never thought of that
  3. There were no "hints". On top of this I was getting along with everyone and the other nurses were in the same boat as I was learning and asking questions. Nevertheless, I only asked and shared this situation because I wanted to get advice from experienced nurses who understand how this field is and what I can probably take with me moving on. I am thinking positive and moving on with my education with the RN. To be quite honest, there are many, many nurses out there who "really" have personality problems and are horrible to work with but yet there still able to retain there positions. I was always friendly, wanted to help in any way I can and always had a smile on my face. Anyway thank you for the response, I will try to re-evaluate the situation and hopefully there is something I can take from this as I go into my endeavors for the RN. FYI i just checked the postings and saw they they re-posted my position on the web.
  4. OK......So heres my story, i am currently starting the ADN LVN to RN program at a local college in the fall, with only 2 semesters to graduate.... I interviewed for a Casual/position in an Urgent Care facility and was offered the job.I was hired with 4 other LVNs which i thought was great since i wont be alone but later realized it created a breeding ground for "competition of the fittest". AT first things were going well and i learned a lot as an LVN. I was constantly asking, how am I doing?', and I would be told, Your doing very good". At no point in time was I ever informed that I was doing bad or that there were any discrepancies in my work. I worked hard and learned as much as I could get in. a month and a half passes by and i get pulled into the office out of nowhere and told that they were letting me go because they felt i was not a good fit????? really? I asked why was I thought of as not a good fit and they refused to tell me but continued to repeat, "well we just think your not a good fit?" I was 2 month into my 90 day probationary period, and After all the hard work I did, not to mention all the positive feedback I got and now there telling me im not a good fit?? how did this happen? i dont think I will ever understand the nursing world. I was devastated. not only do i feel like I failed but I am so angry in that I was not even given ta reason for being let go, I need advice from anyone who can help me see the positive or give me perspective on why they do things like this.
  5. the problem is this trainer only works 3 days a week, 11 hour shifts which fall on the days I have my other job, so i had to rearrange my hours in my other job to make it work so I can train at least 8 hours during those 3 days instead of the 11. hopefully i wont be asked to leave because of the schedule thing lol
  6. To all those who graduated nursing school, I was fortunate to get accepted into the LVN to RN program and I am excited but very much nervous. I really want to know what advice can you give me to succeed. Time management techniques and what helped you through nursing school. What is the best way to keep the clinical instructors happy and what to avoid with them so as to not make myself "a target"? I have my husband who works a good job, a 5 year old son and a per diem urgent care job. if God willing, I will graduate May 2016. I am also taking a med exam in 3rd semester so any insights on that? What is the best way to show instructors your on top of your game? I want to succeed and will work as hard as possible to make it happen! Appreciate advice or tips from students, grads or instructors on this forum, Thanks :)
  7. they said my training will be with a trainer that will release me when he sees im ready. but am i required to work the same shifts as a regular job while training?
  8. Hi everyone, I am writing this today b/c I am a somewhat new LVN grad (2011) which I am now enrolled in the LVN-ADN RN upgrade (graduating May 2015). I recently found a per diem job at an urgent care facility and so far the people I have met are very nice. However, I cannot seem to understand the per diem situation with them. Will I be expected to be on call and have to come in whenever they call me or am I going to at some point give them my availability days and that's when they call? Also, is it normal to start training before the 3 day orientation process? I am starting the third semester ADN program in fall of 2015 and want to know if Per Diem is possible as a student? they told me I am required to do minimum 2 shifts a month and they schedule 6 weeks in advance. i am afraid to keep asking too many questions b/c it seems there getting annoyed with me asking. Thanks for everyone's input
  9. Hi, I had a quick question, when you work Per Diem at an urgent care facility, can you give them the days of availability and thats when they call you or are you ecpected to be on call 7 days a week?
  10. Hi, Does anyone have any topic ideas for evidence based practice paper that I need to start working on? I am a little stumped as to what to look for because obviously I have not dedicated myself to a particuler topic of interest.......any input would be gladly appreciated....
  11. Where can you go to check out reviews for an instructor?
  12. Hi everyone, I recently applied to San Joaquin Delta college LVN to RN upgrade for Spring 2014 to enter into third semester. I received back a letter stating to submit supporting documentation which I successfully submitted. Is this a good sign or what is usually the next step. I am a little nervous because I am hoping to get accepted and complete the last two semesters and become an RN. Is anyone out there trying to get into Spring 2014? If so, share your situations. also how many clinical days will we be expected to do per week? What time do they start? and what days so they usually fall on? Any advice from those who have graduated delta college ADN and what to do to be successful :)........your input is greatly appreciated Thanks
  13. Does anyone know how the schedule in MJC's nursing program is in third semester?
