Driving REALLY far for an interview?

Has anyone driven outlandishly far for an interview?

I applied to several places and one called me but I didn't realize how far it was when I agreed over the phone to a interview in person. They are not doing any other forms of interviewing except in-person. I work the day before my scheduled interview and there are no air flights that will make it in time. I didn't have time to research and call her back to change at the moment, she called me right as I was gonna leave for work.

I am seriously considering driving a car for about 10-12 hours for this interview. I'm gonna have to get off work and start driving! I probably won't get to sleep. Has anyone done this before? Tomorrow I'm going to try to get my interview rescheduled to the day after the scheduled date. I hope they will accommodate my request!

I drove 3 hours one way for an interview at a job I really wanted.

The drive seems a bit long to say the least. Since you work the day before I would book a hotel room in advance, pack the car with everything you need and leave right after work. Just make sure and alert the hotel that you will have a very late check in. Then you can at least get a little rest and have a place to get cleaned up and dressed for the interview.

If you can afford it and your schedule gives you time for it book the room for 2 nights so you can sleep before driving back home. Staying the extra night will also give you some time to explore the area a little and see if it might be a place you'd like to relocate to if you are offered the job. Good luck!

ps And I am sorry but I just assumed you are working a day shift and would be able to arrive late on the night before the interview. Depending on your schedule the time you need to leave might mess up my plan.

10- to 12-hour drive? I would rather fly to it--I'd get there in one, two hours or so. It may cost a bit more, but it sure beats being in a car for almost a whole day vs. in a plane for four hours. I would do the interview and be back in my own bed that night.

I did a flight and drive. If I don't get the job, then at least I have somewhat of a story to tell haha

I once drove about 8 hrs for an interview. My boyfriend tagged along and we made a little two day trip out of it.

I drove 2 hours there and 2 hours back to the airport the same day. Just found out I got the job!

7 hours I took the job and relocated to the area. Considering how far is it is I would really look at every airline

I've driven 5 hours there and 5 hours back for a NP interview! It felt horrible, but I got into the program. I also flew across country for the job that I currently have.
