Dr. Phil made nice...

Published

Today on Dr, Phil, he made a statement about how nice nurses, teachers and single parents were. He also read a letter from his 2 sisters that are nurses. I guess that was his apology.

Specializes in 5 yrs OR, ASU Pre-Op 2 yr. ER.

I don't feel he had to apologize (and i don't feel that his statement WAS an apology). The statements he'd made were about some of the nurses he had seen, not about a whole profession. Lots doesn't equal all. Had he made a blanket statement about every nurse, then, yes, i'd feel he would owe every nurse an apology.

His statements today (which, thanks to bronchitis, i was able to view while channel-grazing) were directed to all nurses.

Specializes in Med-Surg.

It was nice of him to say that nurses were the backbone of the health care industry. Rather than having lots of nurses who were gold diggers trying to get out of the profression.

Marie, while he didn't make a blanket statement about nurses, what he said was incorrect. While we are leaving the nursing profression, lots of us aren't looking for a doctor as a way out of the profression. He could at least apologize for passing on untrue information as factual. :)

I thought his so called apology was a bunch of BS. :angryfire

It was so obviuosly created by his staff. Did you see the words he used? If I was his sister I would have given him a piece of my mind...not tip toeing around the issue like it would seem judging from " We know you have the highest regard for nurses and would NEVER have disrespectful thoughts towards them ...blah blah blah."

He never once "refreshed " the viewers memories (like Oprah does) because if he did...then many would see he never really addresses the reason we were all so mad!

Thats just my opinion guys. :stone

it was a start.....I am willing to accept with grace. And then see what happens. I think that is best.

Something is better than nothing. That's how I see it.:wink2:

I am so over Dr. Phil. I'll give him credit, he does have some good information and advice, but his delivery ruins it for me. And make no bones, he is only looking out for the bottom line. His wife really annoys me, I'm still not over the episode where she proudly talked about how she handled her child when he had a potty accident-she made him wear his wet pants all day long while locked in his room. :angryfire Now that's therapeutic. Totally changed my mind about both of them. Sorry to get off topic, just had to get that off my chest. :p

That's abuse.

His bottom line might be in trouble. Someone is going to do that to their child and child welfare will get wind of it. It will be in court one way or the other, and someone will see the chance to get a little moolah by saying, I just did what they said on Dr. Phil.

Maybe it has already happened, judging by the statement (I didn't see it; sounds like that was a good thing).

For me, he was nothing to me after the show touted to be gift giving suggestions was nothing other than a succession of "and the audience is getting a free whatsis!" I wanted to gag. I can hardly bear to even think to watch the show anymore, and apparently I haven't missed a darned thing.

We're nice????? Puhleeeeeze.
