At night?

I'm just wondering if it is managable. The two schools near me offer night programs, which I need and I do have a job that will allow me to study during the day.

Thanks!

I do!! I have been doing this for the past 2 years or so. It works out well for me. I work all day and usually took 2 classes each semester at night. I am now down to 1 class because that is all I need to do at this point! I work full time for a Pharma company and then I attend classes at night.

I also have an 11 month old at home. I took an online course during the Fall of last year when she was born and it was easy to keep up with because she slept a lot. However, now she is very mobile and I can't do anything unless she's sleeping or my husband takes care of her (which I usually have to beg for!! :chuckle ). I am also taking an online course this semester to ease myself back into school since I took the Spring/Summer semesters off.

But I say go for it. If you have the time at night to commit to it, do it!! There are many that do!! Good luck!

Yes

That's how I handled my first year of pre req's. Like the previous poster, I am just down to one class this fall, as that's all I need to hopefully get into the full time nursing program next fall.

I too, only took 2 classes. I would take one in the evening and the other one on Saturdays. I wouldn't advise taking more than 2 if you're working full time, although there are people who do...sometimes those were the students whose grades would really suffer though...but you know yourself best. I didn't want to bite off more than I could chew, at the time I was also a single parent, so that was a bit of a juggling act. I'm now re married so it's much better now that my son isn't left to forage for food on his own :D He's 13 now too so that also helps.

I also maintained a 4.0 until last fall's algebra class dropped me to a 3.78..I'm hoping to bring that back up with this fall's Chem class...I'm figuring it's completely doable even though I work M-F 10a-7pm...it's my only class.

Good luck and go for it!

Because of financial aid, I think I am going to have to work full time and go to school full time. It won't be easy, but I think it is possible.

I worked and went to school both full time. My work was really awsome about letting me work the days I could fit into my school schedule. I worked a couple doubles because it was better for me. I do think that my grades were affected though, but I made it!

I work full time and go to school full time. It is possible but I find it to be very taxing. Not much time for anything else. I think you will be fine especially if you are able to do some studying at work. Good luck. Have a great semester.

I hope I can do this also. I am trying to finish my pre-reqs up now and will be applying for the nursing program for the evening. My job is allowing me to work 2 days in the office and 3 days at home. Plus I have a 3 month old so I hope I will be able to handle this.....good luck to all ;o)

Right now I work full time & I'm taking my pre-reqs on part time... 2 classes. Summer semester I had M,T, W classes & fall semester I have Tuesday &Thursday classes. All of them have been 6pm-8:45pm.

I did all my pre-reqs part time while working full time, and a husband and pre-schooler! It is doable, and you become very proficient in time management!

I work at night full time and go to school during the day full time. Two of my classes are online so I don't have to go to those. Until I moved to the night shift, I worked 7-3 and went to class in the afternoon. Fall was class from 6:45-9:30 and spring was class from 3:30-9:00. I like doing my classes first because I'm more alert, but it is definitely do-able to work and then go to class. Take advantage of online classes if you have the opportunity.

I also work full time in New York City and travel to school 4 nights a week on Long Island, quite a trek but it's well worth it. I am married with two childrean. I am taking 3 classes this semester and I have gone to summer school until this past summer, I needed a break. It can be done. Good Luck.

I work full time, and I go to school full time. I have 4 children, a husband, and a very needy best friend. I do my homework every waking minute I have. My kids help me with dinner, chores, and anything else I need help with. It is tough to maintain a good GPA, but is is completely do-able. One day when I am a nurse I know it will be WORTH every second of this chaotic time...

Good luck - You can do it! :monkeydance:
