Do I Stand A Chance??

Published

hello everyone. i am scheduled to take nclex in march and started doin "self-review" last december. the review material i am using right now is Saunders Q&A edition 2. i am almost through with this book and so far i am doing ok. given the situation, i was wondering if i stand a chance of passing the nclex based on performance alone in answering Q&A review books. sadly, due to financial setbacks, i can only rely on available resources in my keeping, which is saunders previous edition book that was given by a friend who already passed nclex. will appreciate any input you may have.

I understand the limited budget thing. Maybe you can check with your public library for some review books. I have found that my library does have a few books, but not many. Still, anything is better than nothing! Also, try ebay or half.com. I've heard these places have really cheap books on them sometimes. If all else fails, try sharing your book with someone else who has a different book. Maybe you can swap CD's or something. Hope it works out for you!

Definitely check your library out! My local library has a shelf of NCLEX books--I sure was surprised by that!

thank you very much for the input. sure will do :)

If you still have access to your school library or better yet, your hospital library, these can be great resources too. I did NCLEX basically the same way you are (studying on my own with multiple review guides) and did just fine. I'm sure you will too!

Ione,

You may want to find out if your school library has a NCLEX video review series also. Good luck!!

Hi ione,

I understand the financial thing, when all was said and done, I had spent over $1000 dollars on this NCLEX. Its overwhelming. What my friends here wrote to you is excellent tangible advice.

I will go a step further and say believe in yourself. Know that you are MORE than this NCLEX and the money involved. Its a difficult exam but with hard work, diligence, and some creativity on your part, you can study lots of questions and pass with flying colors!

Let me recommend to you a website that you can search through that gives you a section JUST on NCLEX questions. Check out caring4you.net. When you go into the site, look on the left column and there will be a forum for NCLEX-RN. Search around in there and it will prompt you with NCLEX questions.

Also I will ask a friend of mine for you about a site of questions she got on the internet. It was only $20.00 for 1 month's worth of questions and $30.00 for a YEAR's worth. Perhaps that's a bit more affordable.

Keep at it!

God Bless,

thank you so much for all your input. just by reading them.. it helps me keep my hopes up. :kiss

Of course you do !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a new graduate myself, took the boards in Jan. ..................... I passed. All I used was Saunders, I took no reveiw classes either. I just used the CD and studied the book with a couple of my freinds and on my own. I did not stress out only spending a few hours a week to study. I got 75 question felt like I didn't know the answers to any of them !!!!!! but evaluated each question and used Airway, Breathing and circulation as my guide to picking an answer. I found out 2 days later I passed !! YOU CAN DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck :balloons:

congratulations, dlmickley! that's excellent. i hope the same works for me too:) unfortunately, i do not have the comprehensive book.. but i am really working on this Q&A. God bless on your future plans.

Check your school library and public library for the newest editions of saunders or if you are able to purchase it ..... mine was about 35 dollars it is well worth it. HINT >>>>>>> I used it to study for classes. It was a great help !!!! Again good luck and keep on hanging on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

congratulations, dlmickley! that's excellent. i hope the same works for me too:) unfortunately, i do not have the comprehensive book.. but i am really working on this Q&A. God bless on your future plans.

Most of us are living in a tight budget right after school. Try to find the money to buy your review materials, save the receipts for deductions come next tax season. When you pass your NCLEX, sell your review books through E bay and make a little $$$
