Do you get Study Guides before midterms and finals ? my teacher doesnt believe in that 😫

We got them in A&PI and get them in A&PII as well (same teacher), but they aren't all inclusive. They hit the major points but they don't cover every last thing that's on the test so we still need to study above and beyond them. I'd say knowing everything on the study guide would get a B or high C on the test, and to get an A we have to go above and beyond to know the lesser details of things rather than just the broad concepts. I've used them as a quick review in addition to studying the entire chapter's worth of material and have gotten an A on every test so far.

Between the 4.5 years I spent in college for my first bachelor's degree and the year I've currently spent taking prereqs for an accelerated BSN program, I have only received a study guide once... in my Psychology 101 course last summer. lol Maybe it's just me, but I don't really expect to receive one... this is college, after all. Now I will say that the majority of my professors post their powerpoints online and their tests usually reflect them. So I just make sure to take good notes and review both them and the powerpoints before exams. That kinda serves as my "study guide" I guess you could say. It is hard when you have 300+ powerpoint slides for every unit in Anatomy and Micro and are expected to know them all, though. But it is what it is. I know it's only going to help me when I start my ABSN program and eventually move on to DNP. I'll have good study techniques down pat.

As others have mentioned, if you're not sure what to study try and hit the main points. It always helped me to draw out processes (and I'm no artist!), print blank diagrams to fill in, and watch YouTube videos. I was never much of a group studier, but sometimes you can learn a lot or see the holes in your own learning by explaining processes to your classmates.

THank you ! yes my drawings and study guides that ive created myself are awesome lmao i also record the classes and have plenty of power points to study from not to mention that i try to study 3 hours every day and also read the NCLEX books !! , i know is not the teachers fault i am not blaming her for us not studying enough but we are struggling because what we think is important sometimes is not LOL ... im telling you is crazy LOL but i wanted to know if is normal not to get a study guide sometimes

Nope. It was funny though my MicroBio professor handed out a study guide for the next exam, mind you he has never done this before. The exam covers 3 chapters and the study guide had 5 bullet points, that's it.

I think I got study guides for the lab part of A&P, but for the lecture portion I was on my own. It would've been helpful but you can make it on your own. I never got any study guides in nursing school though. I would create my own and they saved my life honestly!

I get general outlines in most of my classes. I appreciate it, but don't expect it. Usually the things covered in the outlines are the base, and you have to build the knowledge off of that via the lecture and other resources.

Meh in med surg she give us no study guides. Honestly doesnt even teach us. I have a study group and we just make our own study guides. We had two exams on monday and our study guides total were 125 pages haha

i did one for 250 quizlet and 200 flash cards and still was not enough lol

If you're struggling I would suggest to stop reading the NCLEX book. The NCLEX is not meant to be used as a study tool for A&P. It contains a lot of questions related to a whole wealth of knowledge (and way of thinking) that you won't cover until you're actually in a nursing program. I know it's exciting to be working towards the goal of taking the NCLEX, but you are likely wasting your time and energy by adding this into your study regimen. The time you use reading the NCLEX book would be better spent studying the concepts you're covering in A&P.

Do you receive outlines? You could make that into a study guide. If not outline your notes or key points in your book. I had an accelerated biology class where my professor didn't do outlines or study guides just powerpoints so I read the chapters and used the powerpoints to fill in/summerize and Id outline that way. Sounds tedious but I learned biology almost completely throughly that way, not just for tests either lol
