I am in my last semester for my BSN program with six weeks to graduation.I had already repeated one class in the program. So i have been accused of plagiarism and i accepted the charge because i didn't understand the topic and the instructions of how to go about it . I forgot to cite all the references.English is not my first language although this is no excuse for my action. I haven't been accused of anything of this sort or any academic dishonesty issue before. This is the first time. I spoke to the professor and acknowledged my mistake and apologized and asked her to let me me redo the assignment and punish me but she insists on giving me an F for the course which would mean failing two classes and getting kicked out of the program. I am so close to graduation. I feel my world is crumbling on me. I plan on talking to her again. Please help me because i am dying

First things I've learned in nursing school. APA formatting and citing pretty much everything I submit. Personally, I wouldn't have accepted that charge at all. Maybe you can talk to one of your nursing counsellors or higher ups and they'll understand the issue with the language barrier

How do you get to within six weeks of graduating without understanding the school's requirements for papers and citations? You "forgot" to cite your references? Did your professor decide to give you the "F" for the course on her own, or is that in accordance with the school's policy? If the instructor has followed the school disciplinary policy, it's hard to imagine how you're going to get out of this. If she isn't following the school's policy, you may be able to get the grade changed and stay in school.
I hope that you'll find some way to work this out. Best wishes!
I was reading the school policy and it says the professor should check with the office of Student Affairs to verify if the student has any prior violations before issuing any sanctions. The sanctions range from warning the student, F on the Assignment, F for the course. She decided to give me F for the course. I explained to her it was an honest mistake and even didn't argue with her. There is a grievance process that i can use but i feel i can talk to the professor once more and the chair to see if she would soften her stance. I own up to my mistakes but i feel this is a harsh punishment

If they professor and school will not be flexible with you then your next call should be with a lawyer. The amount of money you have invested in your education is worth at least a consultation. Not saying you have a case or not, as I am not an attorney, but just to review your options. Can't hurt to talk to one.

Plagiarism is a SERIOUS offense that calls for serious consequences. It boils down to the fact that you stole someone else's literary work. And even if you now tell us "no, I didn't, I didn't understand how it all works", the truth of the matter is that you ACCEPTED responsibility for doing so. I'm not sure how you are 6 weeks out from a BSN degree and are unsure on how to submit a properly formatted paper.
I wish you the best of luck, but it's going to be a battle!
Um, OP broke the rules of her program. She STOLE someone else's words. Running all boo hoo to an attorney every time someone screws up is NOT the answer! Lack of responsibility in some of the posters here is nauseating

That's really not a good habit to get into. If you didn't know how to do a bedside skill, you wouldn't just skip it or "forget" about it. You'd look up the procedure and consult your resources. Same concept here.
