I need some advice...I was accepted to Wilkes Adult-Gero Primary Care NP program and Walden's FNP.Which would you choose? Wilkes is non-profit where as Walden is for profit. This is a very hard decision and any advice would be appreciated.

First off, congrats! That is awesome!
Well, ask yourself these questions?
- do you want work with only the adult Geri population or also with peds and adolescents?
- Does for/non profit matter to you?
- have you looked at tuition?
- have you looked at the number of commutes for each program?
- the number of semesters?
- the offering of part time/full time?
- does either assist with preceptors?
Just compare the pros and cons of each. Look up each school here on allnurses. I'm sure you'll find tons of threads.
Again, congrats! And good luck!
Thanks gellie:) I will consider all these things in my decision. The only thing is that I can not find any feedback on the Wilkes program. I have searched and searched to no avail. I have seen responses to mental health but not adult-gero. I guess I will consider all the factors and maybe someone that has gone there will come forward at some point while I am deciding. Again thanks for the quick response, support and guidance.
ooohhhhh. So sorry I can't help with that school in particular. Hopefully someone will come along that's attended Wilkes Program to give you some insight.
Congrats again, being accepted is a great milestone! Hope to be where you are really soon :-)
Thanks again and good luck to you I know you will soon:yes: If you ever need some insight you can always PM me about getting into programs or anything.

IMHO: nonprofit > for profit.
I'm in NP school at a not for profit, closed book exams, and classes are rigorous. Two coworkers are in two different for profit programs. They have open book tests, they can turn in papers multiple times for better grades, etc. They tell me they don't really need to study, because they get to use notes and have unlimited examination times. if you ask me, that's a flat out joke. Both of these coworkers will not be competent providers because they don't have to try to learn and apply concepts. These programs degrade the NP profession reputation.
Thanks for the response msufan, that is absolutely crazy. I do believe that non profit is better in the scheme of things.

If you don't mind me asking, what programs are these?!
