Did anyone experience this

I have just returned from the interview, first of all, I was there at about 15 minutes earlier, the receptionist telephone the nursing director, then she came down and said hi to me, then she said to give her 5 to 10 minutes, she did not return. After about over 1 hour of waiting, the receptionist paged her again and at that time, she asked for me to be interviewed by another person, well that person came and introduce themselve to me then she said she was going to get something to eat and she will be back, so I waited again for another 30 mins or so, then the receptionist page her again, then she asked me to come up to the second floor, this place look so good and clean. So she take me to the nursing station and interviewed me, this was her interview, when did you take the nclex, and when did you graduate, so I told her, then she gave me to scenario on paper, and she told me to write a nursing note for each. This was the first one: Mr. C was found unresponsive, B/P 90/60, and blood glucose 48mg/dl, what is your nursing intervention, write a nursing note on your intervention, I went bizarred, then I wrote, Pt found unresponsive, V/S unstable, B/P 90/60, pt was given glucagon, nursing supervisor was notified.

The second scenario was, Mr K was found with a hematoma to the left side of his head, what is your nursing action, so I wrote, Pt found with hematoma to left side, V/S stable, no apparent distress at this time, nursing supervisor was notified and incident report was made. Then she brought my answers to the nursing director then she said to me, do I want to work from 11-7, then I said from 7-3 or 3-11, then she said she will call.

Guys I think this interview was a show, I was very uncomfortable for the whole time, now I have to wait and see. Do you think this was an appropriate interview, did anyone else experienced this before, tthis was my first, so am very paranoid, thanks guys.

I wouldn't work for such a disorganized place myself. First, to keep you waiting for over an hour and a half???!!! Sorry, my time is more valuable than that. I would wonder what their problem is and wouldn't want to get involved.

Keep looking Kay - there are better places.

I agree - they should be trying to sell the place to you at interview, even if that's the last time they try to impress you!

I would write them a letter and explain that I found it rude and unprofessional to waste my time, and that you are concerned if this is the introduction they give you to their facility then they will have trouble getting competent staff.

Don't forget interviews are a two-way street and they give you the opportunity to assess the facility as well! You deserve better, and it's definitely out there. I'd run in the opposite direction.

If you are treated this way as a potential employee....how the heck will you be treated when you get the job??? Run, run, run!

I honestly can't believe this Kay, it was a disgraceful way to treat a potential employee. I don't know what they must have been thinking!

Yep. I have to agree with the other posters. I wouldn't want to work for such a place.

I might give them another chance IF (and only if) you know through other sources that this is a great employer and/or you would be working on a different type of unit with different managers than the ones involved in this interview. Sometimes, one manager or one division within a hospital is much worse than another. For example, the med/surg units might be a mess but the ICU is run very well -- or vice versa. The OB unit might be terrible, but the peds unit wonderful. If you know someone "on the inside" who can give you a clue as to whether what you saw in your interview is typical or not, I would ask them.

Sounds like the kind of place where they'd be lucky to hire and keep any nurse with a working pulse, because they sure aren't going a centimeter out of their way to impress one of value. If they show up on your caller ID, let the machine get it. Then press Delete.

Well one day is almost gone and I have not heard fromthem, and I would really take you all advises and run from this company, I think they were very unorganize, and oh yeh I will definitely not pick up their calls, thanks again guys, you all are a blessing.

I had to wait for an interview once. The woman I was supposed to have it with decided she couldn't do it, so I waited while they found someone to. Made me feel like I was not important enough to keep on her schedule. Biggest hellhole I ever worked at. Only took the job b/c I needed to get working and needed some experience. I would never wait like that again--my time is valuable and I have more pride in myself than to be treated like an interview with me is a chore. They can't keep any nurses there.

That's just how I had felt, like am not important and she don't care, the only reason I waited is because everywere else is asking for experience and I do not have it.

Guess what I got a job that I have to start tomorrow in a community clinc, and actually today that place where I went for the interview yesterday, called and left a message on my voice mail saying congratulations, you have gotten your first job as an RN. When I listened to the message, I went oh please, I think this place is discriminating too, so who will want to work for them.
