Dcccd 2006

Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?

Featured Replies

Thanks everyone. :)

Is there anyone here that KNOWS someone that is currently attending North Lake or El Centro? How do they like or dislike the program? I know that North Lake is a satellite program from El Centro but I wonder which school (if any) is better. I will be applying next semester and I really don't know which one to choose. Thanks in advance!

I know one person that attended North Lake recently, and my aunt graduated from El Centro, probably back in the 80's.

They both say it is hard, but both are good. Choose both, maybe as your first choice you could put the school closer to you.

I do know that NLC had some kinks just starting out, but I'm sure they have or will have worked them out by then.

Good luck.

I know folks that just finished El Centro and folks that finished a long time ago. It's tough, tough program with an excellent reputation. I went to El Centro for my CST and I know many of the nursing instructors. They are a no-nonsense bunch and they know there stuff. My only problem with EL Centro is the-less-helpful attitude of SOME of the ancillary staff.

I did all my prereq's at NorthLake since I lived in Irving. I loved the campus and thought it was a great school.

BTW,

Good luck to all you guys who have gotten in. I have not gotten my letter yet, but It will come in today or tommorrow.

FUNNIE I think your attitude is A-1! You are one classy lady!:balloons:

I haven't gotten my letter yet, but I know I didn't get in :(

I have a new plan of action though. I'm going to retake English to get an A. I am also going to retake Microbiology (it's over 5 years old). I'm going to reapply at DCCCD, but also I'm going to try Navarro too.

Good Luck TXMOM!!!! I know you can do it!

Thanks sunnyjohn. :)

TXMOM, I've looked at Navarro County as well.

DH says if I get in there, we'd have to move b/c of gas ..... kiddos would hate that one. LOL

Good luck everyone! :)

What about Tarrant? They have an excellent program. I'm not sure if they only have it at one campus like they used to - maybe that wouldnt be as far for you as Navarro though?

I've looked at Tarrant County also, and I am completing my chemistry this Wednesday. If I remember correctly, there are still a few classes I would have to take in order to get high up on the "maybe" list. lol The nursing courses are only at the south campus.

I'll have to look at everything again.

Fun, any news?

Well as far as what has been said, the news is no. I haven't checked my mail, and haven't received a phone call. I'm holding out hope, if not, I'll try again for the fall. :)

Thanks for asking! :p

Hey Fun,

How about Brookhaven? I'm planning on applying there for Fall '06 myself. Sounds like you have most of the preqs. (Chem, Eng, Psych and A & P) done so you'd just need to take the HESI. It's on a point system so your gpa won't make or break you. You do have to do an interview but with your great attitude I'm sure you'd ace it.

Couldn't hurt to have one more school in your back up plan especially if you have most of the preqs done. Just another option for you.
