I've only been to the west coast once...my family and I flew to Seattle only to drive from there to Vancouver, Canada...and it was at night so I didn't get to enjoy it much lol. But I've lived in Philly most of my life...I love this city, and it only got better these past few weeks because of the PHILLIES!!!! and the victory parade!! :yeah:It was great!

From what I've seen, I like Philly as well. There's a lot of history there.:nuke:

Good 'ol Vancouver B.C., eh? It's a nice up there, especially since I could go to a bar when I was 19.

My family and I used to drive there all the time when I was a kid. Haven't been there in a few years though.

I got my letter!!! Drexel is one of my top choices. I am not sure what to do at this point - I would love to go there, but I'd like to see what other schools have to offer me even though I will not hear back until April from some of them. I don't want to send in my deposit either and risk losing it, but it'd be an honor to go there and to be in the program. Is anyone else in this situation?

You have 40 days to make a decision - do you anticipate hearing back prior to that date? If so - is it worth a 1k gamble on your deposit

I'd hold out for a bit if you think you are getting in more letters... but would you actually choose one of the other 2 over drexel or .....?

It's between Drexel and one other school. I wouldn't hear back at all until April from the other school.

Being guaranteed a school for next year is worth the deposit, imo. If you do get in, you can consider the second school based on financial aid (if the price is a lot cheaper, you'll have "earned" the deposit back by going to the less expensive school) or maybe you'll change your mind about Drexel being your first choice. If you hold out for the second school, don't put your deposit down on Drexel and lose that spot- you'll have to wait another admission cycle to go to school if you don't get in to the second school.

I'd look at it as insurance- best case scenario it'll give you a choice and worst case scenario it makes sure you're going to nursing school in the fall.

Sounds like you might as well send in your deposit now

I mean the 'worst' case scenario is you get accepted to the other school and decide it's worth the 1k loss...

it's better then not sending in the deposit and not getting accepted at the other school~~

ps congrats on the aBSN acceptance.. I'm still pending my deposit submission... I will probably send it next week

well we only have 40 days to make a decision and make a deposit...now im just gonna play devil's advocate...but what IF you didnt get into the other school? and drexel wasnt an option anymore because you never confirmed within the 40 days. and what it comes down to was just securing ur spot for 500 dollars. and yes, 500 is a lot of money, but you at least have a secure plan that way.

for me, drexel just made my decision easier...I was anticipating going to jefferson, but i havent heard back yet, and i still would have to take a chem II next semester (which i was DREADING) but since i got an acceptance, i dont have to go thru the agony of chemistry anymore lol. i mean my decision isnt as hard as yours, but just think about it....and after all drexel is a really great school. :)

I definitely don't want to screw myself out of a great program by waiting and seeing what else could come my way, which is why I feel like I'm stuck. And real quick, why does everyone keep talking about screwing myself out of 1K if the deposit is $500?

congrats to everyone on their acceptance...one step closer to becoming a nurse...i have sooo many questions to ask Drexel, before I can accept their acceptance...mainly financial aid....is anyone else in the position of having to quit their job, while have a MORTGAGE and family....i really need to know more about financial aid opportunities, b/c i cant leave all the responsibility on my husband....what a drag...also as this would be second degree for all of us, are we considered 5th year students or 1st year students...b/c there is a huge difference in the amount of financial aid one could qualify for...i know the drexel is going to send a list of classes we have to complete before entry into the program....from others posts, i also know that in order to sit for the NCLEX, we have to pass the HESI....so many questions.....and although the program is 11 months in length, realistically how long before graduates are EMPLOYED!!...please share your two cents and concerns as well....maybe i'm overlooking something...!!

You will see with previous posters that you will be considered a 5th year undergrad - as you already have a bachelors... that will limit you to a total federal stafford loan of 12.5k; the remainder of authorized loans, which you can receive as private loans, will be approx 50k additional.

Classes prior to start - are just the pre-requites as shown on the website.

Yes we have to pass the HESI prior to moving on... but I have heard if you do not pass there is help available.. I think it's a great idea as we should all then be very ready to pass the nclex.

I'm not sure exactly how long until you can take the NCLEX after graduation I have heard about 2-5 weeks after graduation... it depends on where you live and what your willing to do for how quickly you can get a job.

Yes I'm in the same situation will have to maintain a household in my home state while I go through school..
