Hi everyone. I'm just curious how the folks in the ACE program are doing so far. I'm accepted and starting in fall 2008. I was wondering how your program schedules work. How often are classes and when (and how many hours/day) are you doing clinicals? I would appreciate any feedback! Good luck to you all.

Hi Geomar,

I'm sorry to say you probably will not get many responses from current ACE students because we are all busy as hell right now. I'm currently in my 2nd of ACE's 4 quarters and it's already hectic...mind you this is only the 2nd week of the quarter. There was so much more down time during the first quarter. At the time, I couldn't understand why everyone I talked to made the program sound so difficult.

Anyway, my current schedule goes something like this:

Monday & Tuesday:

8:00-9:50 Women's Health

10:00-11:50 Mental Health

1:00-2:50 Adult I

3:00-4:20 Pharmacology

Wednesday:

7 hrs. of Women's Health Clinical

Thursday:

7 hrs. of Mental Health Clinical

Friday:

7 hrs. of Adult I Clinical

Everyone has 3 days of clinical each week during this quarter, but everyone's schedules vary slightly. We all have all of our classes on Mondays and Tuesdays, but clinicals can be any combination of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

The course load is heavy, but manageable. I've been told by many of the 4th quarter students that the 2nd quarter is the toughest of the program...I'm keeping my fingers crossed! My best advice is to study along the way because midterms and finals come up quick. This is only week 2 of the 2nd quarter, but midterms exams are taken during week 5 and finals during week 11. Don't wait until the week before exams to begin studying.

Congratulations on your acceptance and good luck! When things get tough just remember, it is manageable. Many others have survived the program before us!

Hi Geomar! I'll be entering Fall '08 too - happy to meet someone in my class on these boards! I wish they would provide some way for us to connect before starting in the program. There was some sort of message board set up, but I think it disappeared.

Hi Nana! It is nice to meet another ACEr. Currently I am a high school teacher so I'm counting down to the end of the school year and things are hectic to say the least (proms, college accepts, etc.). Do you have last minute classes to take? I've got some to do this summer. Take care!

Geomar & Nana - I have been browsing the boards and am glad that I have found fellow classmates for the fall of 08'. I think that would be great if we could try and start a thread for anyone out there that will be entering the program this fall. I think it would benefit us all to stay in touch and give some moral support, while we venture into such a difficult program! - hopefully you all agree;)

Hi Everyone!! I am new to this site but I too will be attending ACE in the fall 08 and I cannot wait!! I am glad to see others on here and excited to meet everyone in the fall. I have 2 more classes to finish up in the summer. They are Intro to Ethics and A&P II. I can't wait to be done with that. I look forward to learning more about everyone. :D

Hello:

I will also be starting in the fall 2008, and I am very excited. I have completed all of my pre-reqs, and I am just waiting anxiously. Thanks for the question, the reponses gave me a good idea of the upcoming program.

Thanks, muriat:yeah:

Geomar:

you mentioned that you are a high school teacher, that's great, I am a middle school teacher myself. It is nice to know that there is someone else in the same field as I, venturing into the same career choice.

Good Luck, Muriat

So glad to see that there are other people here from the program! I am also finishing up ethics and A&P II now also - definitely looking forward to the end of those so that I can enjoy the rest of my summer! Does anyone know how many of us there are? Or if there's an orientation of some kind so that we can all meet?

To the Ace students,

A sincere congratulations to you all!!!! I have applied to the program as well, but for the Fall of 2009... I have a BA, but needed to complete the core prequisites... I have one question...my GPA is a 2.97. Do you think that this is good enough to get into the program? That GPA does not include the current sciences that I am taking at LaSalle...i am busting my hump to get at least B's in my science classes...Thank you and again Good luck....please keep us posted about the program particulars when you have time....:yeah::yeah:

And one last question (sorry!!)...do you find the staff/administrators supportive? and how about financial aid? i am worried b/c i already have one BA, that i may not qualify for additional aid....

thanks again!!!

Hey Everyone!! I'll also be starting 's ACE program in Fall 2008.

I'm curious, where is everyone living? Are you moving to philly or commuting from furthur away? I'm definately going to move closer to school since it would be about an hour and a half commute from where I am now.

Hi Laursy,

I am commuting from Bucks County on the train for an hour on class days and driving about the same on clinical days. I am "older" (not that old, thank you very much) and have a family so I can't just move to Philly by myself. I do have some friends in Philly who have invited me to stay when I need to and on crazy clinical days when I have to check patients the night before I will probably do that. An hour and a half commute sounds like way too much. You should live closer!

Send me an e-mail if you want to talk details.

It is coming up fast!

Take Care,

Rachel
