Sorry, just tuning in here again. From what I read below, I was under the impression that the trimester version was fully funded while the semester had tuition. In my other grad school program thats the exact same language that was used for our full ride. So WOW!, I've been delusional this whole time. (see below):

Hmmm now that I think about it, the fees in the pic definitely don't look accurate. Obviously, things like stethoscope and travel to clinical sites depends on the student, but since when did the TEAS only cost $52? I paid $100! But ultimately, both you and CocoaQueen have good points. You'd have more of a commute to CSULB but you should definitely go with your gut!!

I didn't even think of that. The whole coronavirus threat is incredibly inconvenient but real for us. I know that the current BSN students are having lecture online, but they're still going to clinicals. I hope the CSULB program won't be put on pause, but sometimes safety comes first!

Late to the game here but just wondering where the info is to calculate your points is? I know I found it once but now I can’t find it!

I had to reschedule for my Communications Exercise and just met with the Director (via Zoom) this morning and she said letters go out in 3 weeks.

Did anyone else have to reschedule? Just wondering how those went compared to the group exercise.

I talked to Nancy about prices and she said that tuition is about 3,400$ but the cost of course textbooks, uniforms, a health tracker, complete required vaccinations and background check would be approximately $200 – $500 (ballpark figure). If this is true then the cost of CSULB is much less than CSULA just because of the fees alone. Not sure how accurate this is though. CSULA’s fees for additional stuff is crazy expensive in comparison (1700$).

Can a current CSULB student confirm please ?

Hi! From what I've read, I believe LB removed the point calculator from their website after its update. If you go to the beginning of this this thread or the 2019 thread, I believe you'll come across the formula they used to calculate their points.

LOL, they told our group that letters would go out over the next 2-3 weeks, but that was over a week ago. What was your virtual interview like?

I interviewed with the Director of Admissions, who said letters were delayed because no one was in the office.

The interview was good! Took about half an hour. She asked me a couple of questions, and then she sent me a link to a video and asked me to answer a couple of questions in paragraph form.

Ugh this COVID-19 thing is crazy. I hope we hear in two weeks instead of three. Good luck to everyone on here!

@SeiMa I'm just relieved to hear that letters are still on their way especially due to reading the past comment about other nursing schools not admitting anyone this term! The waiting is definitely difficult but I honestly really feel bad for the graduating cohort and the admissions staff right now. Things must be pretty hectic...

I just noticed this comment. That’s insane. That better not happen to the CSU’s ?

Seems a little dramatic since Fall 2020 doesn’t even start until August. It’s barely March. By August I’d imagine all of this will be cleared up. They should’ve at least waited it out to see what happens before completely cancelling Fall 2020.

I would say ATI, uniforms, course textbooks, Castlebranch and required vaccinations etc. will be around $550 - $650. I remember ATI being a few hundred dollars by itself.

I am a textbook person myself and have purchased or rented every textbook thus far but honestly I hardly open the majority of them. There are a handful of books that are helpful to buy for CP or learning but the majority of information you will be tested on come from slides and lecture content. The only textbook I read cover to cover was the Critical Care one by Sole. A great book, would recommend.

Bottom line most textbooks that you "need" or will get use out of will be purchased first semester. After that there are many PDFs etc for free.

The only reason it is worth noting that LBMMC funds the trimester program is for hiring purposes. LBMMC is investing in its future nurses (we still pay the same tuition as semester). For this reason, they have a huge motivation to retain us as employed RNs.

They used to contract you in the program but they stopped doing that because new grads would break contract before 2 years on the job. This just means that you have to do a normal job interview like most new grads, no biggie.

Hey there! Thanks for responding. I appreciate it so much. This is the breakdown of CSULA’s fees for everything.... let me know if this sounds similar to CSULB? I’m asking because I’m not sure if Nancy and yourself are missing a few things and that is why CSULB’s fees sound cheaper (550-650 is way less than 1700$), or if CSULA just has way more expensive stuff LOL. Let me know if this sounds accurate.

• Lab coats - 40$
• Uniforms (2 recommended) - 85$ x 2 = 170$
• Fire class - 20$
• Student liability insurance - 20$
• ATI - 809$ (plus tax
• E-books - 287$
• Student lab fee - 200$
• Health tracker (castlebranch) - 133$
• ID badges - 5$
• Parking for orientation - 16$

Total = approximately 1700$ total.

plus tuition which is 3,385 per semester (for now but could raise slightly in the future).
