Yeah sounds like CSULA is your best option. I'm considering it too because so many people want trimester. I would be mad if I choose CSULB and then get stuck with semester and have to commute so far. Curious to hear back from the current students to give some info on where the farthest clinical is in their cohort...

Does anyone here know where some of the graduates of CSU Long Beach's BSN program end up working? Do they tend to stay within the area (maybe find work at some of their clinical sites) or do they move to different parts of California or other states? Long Beach is right next to LA and many people want to live there so I am wondering what the job market looks like for new grad nurses...

Did you apply to CSU channel islands? I heard its easy to get into and WAY closer to you.

@ninja1968 I'm really hoping for semester! One student told me "Whatever you do, don't take trimester."? I know I could handle it but I'd prefer not feel rushed; nursing school is already hard as is! And also I'm not in a hurry to graduate or anything

@laur2412 Totally! If distance wasn't a factor, I would 100% choose semester too. That was what my plan originally, but then I got freaked out when I learned that some clinicals in the past were held at Saddleback or Hoag which is way South of me. I also heard that some students did clinicals at Torrance Memorial which is way closer to me.

However, Nancy informed me that clinical placements change every semester and that it is impossible to predict which hospitals the students will go to and we will not find out until orientation. -__-

Yes I did! LOL, where'd you hear that from? CSUCI is actually pretty difficult to get into because it's the closest Uni in our vicitnity, and it's also one of the top rated schools for nursing. Naturally, everyone applies there, but only few get in. It's so bad that counselors will indirectly tell students not to get their hopes up in regards to getting into the program. It's kind of crappy, but that's how it is. CSUCI is the CSULA of Ventura County, if that makes sense.

I was wondering when you calculate your GPAs, do you guys count minuses and pluses? Also what is the cutoff score for fall compared to Spring?
That would really help me out so I can have an idea when applying.

Minuses and pluses don't count in GPA for CSULB. I'm not sure what the cutoffs were for previous semester, but checking out the forums in the past might help!

Oh I have no idea actually. One of my clients was telling me to apply to CSUCI because its easy to get into but I decided not to because the campus is like 50 miles from me... so who knows where the clinicals will be held LOL. She clearly has no idea what she is talking about though. I never researched that school at all. Well, I hope for your own sake that you get into that program because it sounds like it would be the best option for you.
