CSULA Fall 2021

Hi all!
I just wanted to create this forum for students who are applying to CSULA Fall 2021 for the BSN Nursing track in case we had questions for each other, wanted to share thoughts, stats and to support each other through this journey.

I was wondering if anyone has applied and knew if CSULA requires verification for volunteer hours in their NursingCAS application portion? Also, will they accept any amount of volunteer hours under 50? I know you can add a document. Thank you!

Hi I’m sorry I just read this now!! Being honest, living in Southern California, I did not want to move. I also did not want to be in a lot of debt. I’m 27 and live on my own, so no support from parents. That all said, I specifically only applied to CSULA and CSULB because those are the only affordable schools that offer a BSN degree that is close to where I live! I may not be the best person to ask this question, I’m so sorry. I’m crazy though, I highly recommend applying to more than 2 schools. I got very lucky I was accepted into both and got to choose. However just know that ALL the CSU’s are great schools and all affordable!! Just choose the one that makes the most sense for you! (I.e. distance, program time frame, etc). I chose csula because it’s the closest CSU to where I live. Most people like CSULB because it’s a shorter program (5 semesters versus 6), however, it’s shorter because it’s harder! Also it is important to contact faculty of the CSU’s to see where your clinical sites will be at. CSULB had some clinical’s that were 1 hour and 30 mins away from my house! Unlike CSULA where the clinical sites are between 7-30 mins away from my house. It’s really up to you on which school is best. CSU’s in general are all great schools.  Good luck to you!

Thanks, I definitely agree with what you said, and I will just apply to nursing schools in southern California. I am applying to CSULB, SDSU, CSULA, and I am thinking to apply one more school from the following Channel Islands, San Bernardino, and San Marcos (To be honest, I don't know which school is good in southern California besides LB, SD& LA)

All of the schools you mentioned are great. At the end of the day, if you go to any of the CSU’s, you’re going to have a BSN and not much debt in comparison to other schools. Apply to all of them if you can!! Long Beach and Los Angeles are the most reputable schools probably because of the location being honest. They are all great schools. If you get accepted to any of them, be happy and proud! ?

What is everyone's status with their transcripts? I have 2 total and one was already received and the other one could only be sent by mail and it was just sent on Friday. I'm kinda nervous because theres only about 2 weeks left until the deadline however the courses still have to be verified....

Both of mine were received by NursingCAS last week.

Have your courses/grades been verified or just the transcript was received?

It has not been verified yet, just received!

My final transcript was just received yesterday (at the last minute ?) Still has anyone else's transcript been received and the application status says completed or verified?

Mine was verified around 1 week ago. However, I believe you should be fine as long as it's postmarked before the deadline!

CAS verified my final transcripts TODAY ? talk about last minute. they also scanned one of my transcripts incorrectly and I had to call to fix. Sooo stressful.

I just checked CSULA's description. It says "Transcripts verified after the Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing submission date are considered as long as the application was submitted by the due date and time." Thus, you should be fine! ?

thanks I hope so. it’s just so stressful and it’s very competitive. receiving 1000s of applications I’m sure they would be okay with disqualifying any applications. the less the better..

Hmm I'm not sure if you can actually see the one we sent in, but they emailed me to let me know it was verified. Once it's verified you should see the updated CAS grade on your transcript entry page.
