we have a charge nurse that had business cards made up to give to pt's with her name and personal cell phone andher home address.. can you believe it??? she hands them out to patients.. i don't think the nurse manager is aware.. but i wish she would. this nurse is very controlling and vindictive and i don't want to be near herevery body has trouble with her.. she is mean , rude and nasty .. and thinks she is just the cats pajamas.

It's frightening to think what might happen if someone crazy, vindictive, and/or criminal were to get a hold of that information.

Of course knowing where and what shift she works, too.

What a maroon. :trout:

All of the above, plus she's possibly opening herself up to future legal problems if she's giving advice over the phone from home without being able to actually see the patient. I'm sure the facility has no protocol for her acting as a telephonic nurse for them in her off hours.
yes i wonder what she's up to.. she is a wack job... i'm turning her in on friday... someone showed me the card then i couldn't find it anymore.. maybe another one will turn up. but i will turn her in.. she's a fool

Her lack of forethought is breathtaking.

The thoughts of patients/family members showing up at her door, or worse yet, waiting in her house for her to come home from work, should have made her discard this lamebrain idea immediately.

I have business cards provided by my employer. They have my office information on them; the only thing personal is my name. That's true of every other business card I've ever seen for anyone in healthcare, too.

Besides, there's no reason she should be handing out business cards. If she were, say, a wound/stoma nurse that patients might need to talk to after discharge, then it would make sense- but only with the hospital contact information.

Beyond strange.

Yeah, she's C-R-A-Z-Y and unprofessional.

Sounds as though Ms Personality is trying to win friends and influence people. She doesn't sound at all mentally secure, and her insecurity is probably what is driving the business card idea. Like others have said, I hope she doesn't wake up dead some day.

That's totally crazy and stupid!! Does she say why she's doing this??

Does she sell Avon or something?? lol

Ha ha ha! What a weirdo! Giving out personal information could be seen as an invitation to people.. I can see it now " Ya this nurse was totally hitting on me...look she even gave me her card with her number and address on it".....

:yeahthat:

In this day and age, that's not only crazy but stupid. I hope she lives alone, because I'd hate to think that there was anyone else (particularly any children) put at risk by her reckless behaviour.

I don't even have my[banana]last name[/banana] on my badge. One banana shy of the fruit basket.

I would think one of those business cards, sent in an interoffice envelope to the head of HR, would snap her out of that practice pronto.
