CPNE in 2 weeks

I'll be leaving for Utica, NY in 2 weeks for my CPNE! Sometimes I feel prepared and sometimes I don't! This date sure creeped up fast! Any last minute tips or words of wisdom?

Do Well !

:up:and Keep us posted!

Wow!!!! I wish you nothing but the best.

1. Just remember when doing the abdominal assessment, Ausculate BEFORE you palpate

2. Don't put the stethoscope over the cervical spine.

3. Always identify your patient

A friend of mine told me this because they got her on the above. I'm sure you know all this and will do well. I'm sending GOOD Vibes your way!!!:heartbeat:nurse:

Best of luck!

Best of luck, you will be fine

Best wishes!! You will do a great. let me know how it goes, i test at the end of May in Atlanta!!! Nervous already.

Don't spend too much time on the initial nursing care plan as you will probably change it.

You will have 3 blank sheets of paper in the back of your assignment kardex. I used the first one for the nmeumonics that are appropriate for every assignment........Call light, bed low, 20 minute check list, identify pt etc. 2nd sheet was the nmeumonic for the areas of care I was assigned. Last page was for my notes for documentation.

Keep the care plan simple and your interventions will be something that you have been assigned to do on your assigned patient......let that be your guide.

Stay focused on what you are doing for your patient. Don't turn down help offered by your CE. Be polite, be professional.

ABOVE ALL------Don't get caught up in all the negative energy of the others that are testing and might not be passing. If you are doing well and they are not, it can get ugly. When I tested, one of the students made the comment "Well, you certainly are the golden child here aren't you?" Another made the comment that the test was "rigged" and implied that they just liked me and were letting me pass. I had a song that I played over and over and over that was inspirational for me. When I couldn't listen to it, I sang that song in my head to keep down the nerves. My song was from the movie Save the Last Dance where she did her dance solo for Julliard. Find one that works for you.

Then......you go girl!!!!!!!!!!!:yeah:

So you used 2 pages for your mneumonics? I've been practicing with one page, but it seems cramped. Glad you didn't get caught up in the other students negative energy, that's quite rude what they said to you. I know it's a stressful weekend, but come on! I'll definitely keep that in mind when I go. Thanks for the tips!!

Best of luck to you!!!

good luck to you!!! go on EPN! great last minute advice...and good tips!!! they will even do a belly dance for you!!!!

will be praying for you,

Lucia

I'm going to Gwinnett 3/28-30. My confidence swings from completely capable to totally lost. (I'm working, too, and all I really WANT to do is study.) I practice grids daily, write careplans and evaluations and have colleagues review them. I'm lucky that my boss is totally behind me and available to help review skills with me. I just need to go in with the mindset: I am a RN, I do this evry day. And hope they don't send something my way that is outside my comfort level!

I get the same feelings. Sometimes I feel like calling Excelsior and cancelling! We will pass with flying colors! :) Positive thinking!
