hello, I have a question for exam review. does clear liquid diet means clear at room temperature or body temperature (higher than room temperature)? and the easier way to distinguish full liquid diet from clear liquid in addition to remember lots of examples. Please help and Thanks thanks so much!

anything clear no matter the temp is a clear liquid diet

a full liquid diet is anything that is liquid including dairy like ice cream, creamer for your coffee, tomato soup, pudding, ect.

Jello is a clear liquid because it becomes liquid at body temp. Does that help?

thanks it does, but I want to make sure did you mean body temperature

I don't think clear liquid has anything to do with room temp, it just means it's a clear fluid (ie not with whole milk or something). Maybe you are thinking liquid or solid at room temp?

Clear fluid would be apple juice, chicken broth, soda, cranberry juice, tea, coffee, water, jello, etc.

Full liquid would be a soup you can't 'see through', like milk, but also a sorbet or ice cream, or pudding (some places are iffy on whether pudding is a liquid).

Clear liquids have nothing to do with body temp. Why r u so stuck on this?

Pts can have clear broth hot or cold. They can have hot or cold water - a clear liquid.

So the question is moot. I don't know why anyone or an examiner would be asking that question at all.

Can light easily pass through it?

Can you see through it?

Is it clear?

Exactly the way I was taught too....hold it up to the light, if you can see thru it, it is considered a "clear" liquid.

Clear liquids = clear chicken broth, clear juices (apple), clear sodas (Sprite, Gingerale), jello, water. Typically you avoid red/purple liquids.

Full liquids include all liquids as well as those that become liquid at room temp, such as ice cream and sorbets.

If you can see through it, it's "clear liquid;" if you can't, it's not. Regardless of the temperature.
