The only class that fits into your schedule has the instructor that everyone warns you about. I have to take summer micro with the " instructor from he*@!!"

I personally don't put much stock into what others tell me about an instructor. Everyone warned me about the "crazy" psych instructor that hated everyone. Her class was supposed to be hard as "h@#* She was great the quarter I had her, I personally found it an interesting class and made an A. Please do yourself a favor and try to approach the class with an open, positive mind. And when you find a class/instructor you don't care for remember, it's only 10-12 weeks out of your life.

I usually found that you have to take a certain teacher's reputation with a grain of salt. I always did well with the ones that everyone didn't like. Just wait and see what happens.

I took Molecular Bio w/ the professor everyone warned me about. She even has a tanked rating at ratemyprofessor.com. You know what? Yes, she was hard...and yup her tests were crazy hard.....but I still got an A. It just took a LOT of studying...but it wasn't impossible. So, you can do it! Just dedicate yourself to it....and one thing I have learned SINCE taking her class...is that she has such a bad rep- she actually was MOVED to tears when I thanked her for being so hard ( because honestly, she MADE me study like I have never studied before). If I hadn't had her...I would have walked into A+P I a LOT less prepared than I was. I honestly believe it's BECAUSE of her that I am doing so well. I told her that and she teared up.

I was all ready, and excited for this semester to end and Maymester & Summer I to start. I'm taking Micro as well.
Then, I checked out ratemyprofessor.com ....or whatever it was... and saw my instructor's name. It was the ONLY one with a sad face on the page.
Luckily, there was only 1 review on this instructor, so I can't really go by that at all...could have been some loafer wanting a free A.
Good luck to you! :)

The only instructors I avoid are the ones who 1) have such heavy accents I can't understand them and 2) the ones who don't teach well and/or don't know their subjects well. Hard is good. You learn more. And this is stuff you NEED to know.

I took 3 semesters with the instructor from hell, that everyone warned me about. I had her for zoology and A&P 1/2. She was bar none the best professor I ever had, and I sailed through with As. Don't put much stock in what other students say, I've found that most of the ones that complain about specific professors are lazy and would rather have the information fed to them so that they can regurgitate it on test day rather than actually learn something.
I'm doing good, thanks Maggie! I'm working as a TA for the A&P II lab this semester, so that has been fun. It keeps me fresh while I sit and wait to get started, plus a little extra money never hurts
How are you?? :)

I had the "instructor from hell", who gave quizzes every single class session which was 3 times a week. It was A&PII, and I learned so much and studied so hard I aced it, whereas the easygoing teacher for A&P everyone loved, I didn't and made a B. Go figure.
Good luck!

Hello there,
I had a professor similar to this too, hard as heck and the tests and assignments had me struggling so much.
Turns out that I sent her an email sincerely thanking her afterwards, after I took my GRE test. I realized that had it not been for her class, tests and assingments that I would not have been so prepared for such another tough test with minimal study time.
I did get an A in her class and last week I heard others complain about her I told one student that she is just the very teacher that will be able to help her with her particular problem with the registrars and dean's office.
So, like others who've said it, take reputations warily.
Good luck,
Gen
