Hi I am new to the area and trying to find a PCP and have noticed that each PCP is associated with a different hospital which I believe you have to go to for minor procedures. I live in the north andover area. If you had to go to a hospital, which hospital would you choose. I know about the MGH and brighams but they are way too far too much traffic, too much for parking, not sure if they truly are the best and not sure I want to travel long distance just to see a PCP. What about Lawrence general or winchester? I have insurance so that is not an issue.

Winchester Hospital has an excellent reputation. That's where I would go if I lived in N. Andover. I go to Lahey which is in Burlington. It has a world-wide reputation and is much closer than the big Boston hospitals. I live in the metrowest area.

Andover is pretty close to Lowell which has a few good hospitals, one is Lowell General and one is Saints Memorial.

I live in Phoenix and it was so difficult to get a PCP I had to wait for 5 months for a slot. Is this the same in most area's?

Depends on the practice, my son had to wait three months when he switched from his pediatrican to PCP.

I'd go to one of the Lahey's in Peabody or Burlington. Lahey burlington for cardiac(my father has an exstensive cardiac hx and thats where he goes. They've been great) Saints Memorial in Lowell is excellent. Thats where I am doing my gastric bypass surg. They've been wonderful. All the experiences I haev had with various dept's have been great.
