Cheating Classmates

Nursing Students General Students

Updated:   Published

I am in the first semester of my program. There are classmates in my school that are sharing answers to tests and quizzes. Today, one of my classmates texted me with a file that contain the answers to an upcoming quiz. I have not opened the file that she sent to me. I also have not responded to any of her text messages. It ticks me off that students like myself spend countless hours studying and others just cheat their way through.

I know a girl who went to a prestigious school in NJ , paid 100,000 to attend became a nurse. She told me that all the students including her had all the answers to every single test, exam and quiz and she sold them adrenal pills for the answers. The entire class cheated on every single exam. Another girl told me that her instructors are so old they don't understand simple technology, with covid they were allowed to take exams st home with no camera no monitoring nothing. She said none of them even study. Where are these students even getting the answers from? And why on earth would they trust you enough to send that ?!

All the more reason for you to learn all that you can to keep yourselves and your loved ones out of the hospitals! These students are the new faces of nursing (if they manage to overcome the NCLEX) and you certainly wouldn’t want them taking care of anyone you know. Good luck and continue to study hard.

And DO NOT allow yourselves to be distracted by their behaviors! If you’re not going to report it, then let it go (and distance yourself from them) for your own peace of mind. Remember, guilt by association is a thing.

This both saddens, and angers me. What kind of nurses are they going to be? The lack of respect towards their instructors is appalling. I wouldn't dream of being so disrespectful towards my instructors. I would have been tossed out of the program so fast my head would be spinning. I would like to think that someone would have the guts to tell the instructors for several reasons, the good of the program, the reputation of the program, the respect of the instructors, and for the students to be able to actually learn.

The nurses that are cheating, have no idea that they are losing out on theory they will so desperately need. What kind of care will they provide? They won't have the knowledge they will need in order to provide any care at all.... I certainly would not want a cheater to care for me or my loved one.

This doesn't matter! They'll graduate, pass NCLEX and get some cushy plushy jobs. Their whole careers will be spent being trophy Barbie doll nurses, just pushing papers and attending meetings.

White lab coat, fancy jewelry and click-clack expensive shoes. And not a hair out of place!

Thank you for your advice. I am going to report it tomorrow while I am on campus. I do not want to take a chance of being kicked out of the program because I knew about it and did not come forward.

Good for you (and thank you) for having the courage to stand up and say something.  This happened in my class too but I chose to stay quiet. I do regret it..

Many of these people will not pass NCLEX, so there’s that. Some people actually do learn from “study guides” like this, not that I’m advocating for dishonest exam-taking. I routinely recommend that undergrads study fir their unit exams using NCLEX test prep books that give you the rationales for the correct answer but also (and this is critical) the rationales for why the wrong ones are wrong.

The school definitely needs to crack down on this, though. Take screen shots and other data with you.

I went yesterday and spoke to the program coordinator since the instructor was not there. I showed her the texts. She told me that an investigation would be launched. She also thanked me for letting them know about it.

Ooh this is nothing new. I’m a person who has been stuck as a CNA for years because CA tuition is ridiculous and personal reasons I would rather not share or get into but I have always thought many new grads were cheaters it’s the new norm especially here in Cali the nurses all wanna be registered to preform Botox and cosmetic procedures mass numbers doing there clinical all same carbon copy models FIGS scrubs. Tiffany glasses and pumped lips ? I don’t judge them for looking their best but it’s sucks because I would like the title of a RN or better and the only rreason I suspect they cheat is because none of them really wanna do any real nursing work like get dirty they look appalled like it’s the most disgusting thing to have to do any invasive procedure and we have heard those rumors when some don’t return to same place saying they were caught cheating and tried to beat the proximity whatever they call them and that technology is improving to catch these cheaters but they still find ways around by ear pieces someone is showing them the way and it’s sad like the nurse above says because they won’t know anything or have any desire to help patients only doing it to preform duties next to surgeons and get comfy with a Beverly Hills doctor to get discounts on procedures it’s no fair
