Nov 6, 201312 yr Kaplan CCRN review book and take an AACN review course! you can search for some in your area on their website :)
Nov 9, 201312 yr It's kind of pricey but the DVDs from Gasparis-Vonfrolio. I've read many of the previous threads on here and it comes up over and over again-- finally sucked it up and purchased it- VERY helpful. I can't sit down and read a textbook for hours, so the DVDs are perfect.
Nov 9, 201312 yr Yup! DEFINITELY Laura Gasparis Vonfrolio!! Her tapes( I bought them on VHS) were wonderful and hit everything. I also attended her live CCRN review class. Also recommend the Pass CCRN book but mainly for the review questions disc. Good luck!!!
Jan 15, 201412 yr I just took the CCRN for the first time and passed it. I attended a prep course offered through my hospital and used the "Pass CCRN!" book and especially the CD that came with it with the practice questions. I would not get hung up on trying to read through the entire book, it's simply too much information. I read up through the cardiac section and then decided to focus on practice questions and that was good enough for me. I would have bought the Laura Gasparis CDs/DVDs, but they're priced around $200, and frankly I don't think you need to spend that much to prepare. The test itself costs nearly $300 to take. I think with some good, well rounded ICU experience, some studying and paying attention to what goes on in your ICU, you'll have the knowledge base to pass it.
Jan 18, 201412 yr Although I loved LGV, I don't feel her videos prepared me well for the CCRN. The pass CCRN questions helped me the most by far. Hope that helps
Mar 1, 201412 yr I just passed yesterday. Used Pass CCRN question bank, Kaplan book, and AACN online review. Overall, it was difficult but just doing practice questions over and over again was the most helpful.
Any suggestions for tools to use to prepare for CCRN?
