Capping ceremony

Published

Yesterday was my capping ceremony and I can't believe I'm half way through my PN program. It was worth every late night, blood, sweat and tears! For those of you in doubt or feeling discouraged PLEASE don't give up! YOU CAN and WILL do it!!! Merry Christmas :)

Half way through they give you guys a ceremony? Does everyone know for sure they made it to the end?

And congrats!

At my school, half way through, we have a candle lighting ceremony. I thought this was normal for programs to have some sort of ceremony half way into it.

Congrats!!!!!!!

Yeah I just read my schools handbook and it said there's a ceremony in June. Hmm guess it is normal. Cause I don't graduate until December 2013.

Wow, never heard of such a thing. We have a ceremony when we graduate. I graduate in Dec 2013 so I'll have a smaller one than the May grads will.

Congrats, tparker! The capping ceremony was integral to nursing school for many years. For those unfamiliar . . .

We had a capping ceremony the night before we began our clinicals. It was a great milestone in our program. It was inspiring to be capped/pinned and recite the nursing oath. It was something that really helped us to keep going when it got hard. Congrats!

We don't have any such ceremony at my university. We have our pinning in May and we have the option of participating in the school's actual graduation ceremony at the stadium, but nothing mid-way. We just all got together for a big luncheon and got a little silly.

Thanks for all of the congrats you guys! I start Pediatric nursing on Tuesday... aiming for August graduation. Talk to you guys soon :) be blessed and be a blessing!

Congrats!!! We don't have our capping ceremony til graduation in July. I can't wait!!

That's actually kinda cool. I don't think my school does that but I think it's a great way to keep people motivated. Sometimes you just need a kick to say "Look how far you've made it....hang in there a little while longer".

It was definitely a motivating factor because I really thought I wasn't going to make it thru 2nd level - med Surg, pharm and mental health. Just started 3rd level on Tuesday and I started with Pediatrics. One more level and I graduate in August :))))))
