Brookhaven Fall 2012

Anyone here applying to Brookhaven's nursing program next month for their Fall 2012 admission?

I am..I need to take the HESI one more time in hopes of getting a higher score. The only support class that I do not have complete is End of Life so I hope with a higher HESI score and a good interview score I will have enough points to get in!

yeah, pre-reqs and support courses are his best bet. Evolve makes a book, and kaplan does also, for the HESI, and it helped me out somewhat. I think the test itself is poorly written, but the evolve book gives you an idea of what to study for. I can also email him a GMAT prep book for reading comprehension if he would like, it's a grad school book but it breaks everything down and teaches you how to read passages and what to look for in answers.

Hello! I have been watching the thread a bit to keep up with information but I just found out that I got in! I have requested to join your FB group, it would be awesome to get some early study partners! Congratulations to everyone! See you soon!

Hey Stephanie,

I kept reading reviews on the Hesi guide books and they said the books weren't all that great, so I went to Barnes and Noble and got the Complete Idiot's Guide to Nursing Entrance Exams. It covers several exams including the Hesi and gives a breakdown on the type of questions you can expect to see. It also has some really good practice exams. I studied the book and got a really good Hesi score. I definitely recommend that book to anyone taking the Hesi. Good luck to your husband next semester!

I've been kind of poking around on this thread and interviewed for Fall 2012 as well and didn't get in :( Its so frustrating. I have all of my pre-reqs done except for EOL (which I am in now) and Dosage Calc. I guess my best bet would be just to retake the HESI. So bummed.

And brookhaven - I think I was in your interview group

I made it. YippeeeeI had been trying so hard and was looking forward from both BHC and ECC. Finally the day with good news is here! Congrats on those who got in and good luck for those who didn't. Just keep trying and be positive. This is the third I applied at BHC with very less hopes but here we go!

So sorry to hear you didn't make it :( What were you application points? Yeah I would suggest taking the HESI again and aim for at least a 90 on that. Don't give up and apply again in the Fall! You can do it!!

Before the interview, I had a 28.64 so I was already nerve-wracked about that. I'm going to retake the HESI at El Centro (for practice) over the summer to refresh for the BH one in fall. Sigh. I got an even 90 on the HESI last time I took it, so I'm hoping for at least a 93-95 this next time around! :/

Congrats to everyone that made it in :)

Oh wow you were right behind me in points. I had 28.89 before interview points. Best of luck on the HESI!!

Thanks everyone! My husband has taken all the support classes already. I am pretty sure it was his HESI score that got him. I would love to stay in touch with you guys so we know what to expect in the program. We are going to sit down tonight and come up with a game plan.

That is so nice of you, you can send it to me. My email address is [email protected]

Congratulations to everyone who got in!!!

Just a few tips to save you guys money, time, and sanity...

Don't go buy special scrubs, they just told us a couple weeks ago that our uniform scrubs will be required in lecture starting this summer.

The foundations course is with the same teacher as the EOL course. It is difficult, a lot of people are making low grades (around 60) on the exams. As soon as you find out what book you have for foundations, start studying!!! We are using Kozier & Erbs Fundamentals of nursing 9th edition in that class, although 8th edition is really close and a lot of students use that one.

If you guys have any questions, I'll be at work for the rest of the day and get pretty bored, so feel free to ask.
