HI...I FINALLY landed my first hospital job of my RN career and I am stoked! I will be starting on a telemetry unit with the possibility to transfer to CVICU in the near future. I'm really excited. The director told me that my being hired is contingent on successfully completing a Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation class. I was wondering if any one knew of a class that I could take in the southern California area.

I am pretty sure the hospital that has hired you will offer the class. I work at a small hospital and they have one every few months. Congratulations on the job!

So does mine. Jmo, but I would get a good beginner book. Ekg for dummies is good.vitalethics.org has some good practice strips

Certainly, your facility offers this course, all you have to do is go to the library in your facility and check out the video or the book. However, if you just want to do it at home, believe it or not there's a Basic Arrhythmia Course on You tube, just enter the tittle and there you have it. BTW congratulations on your new position, trust me in no time you'll be a pro

i was hired at a tele floor too, and had to take a basic arrhythmia course and pass (in addition to ACLS and critical care). do you know the name of the company offering the course? is it 'continue CPR'? i'm in los angeles.

I'm a new nurse working on a cardiac floor and I'm scheduled to take an EKG class in april..My hospital is offering this for free..I second the comment about looking up an EKG interpretation online (specifically youtube) and also there are bunch of EKG books in Barnes and Nobles with practice strips to get you started
