ATI Testing

I graduated from an LPN Program June 21st. Our LPN Program used ATI alot! Additionally, our program costs included all the ATI books, CD's, and online practice tests. They are what I used to study to pass the NCLEX. I took the NCLEX on July 9th and found out on the 11th I passed with the minimum number of questions.

On top of that, I am now in an LPN-RN bridge program. I applied for that program early this year, got in my 3 reference letters, and scheduled myself for testing (which I took in May). The University gave all the applicants 5-6 ATI tests and then ranked all the applicants by there scores first, and then reviewed reference letters. All that ATI practice and study was invaluable at ensuring my slot in the bridge program.

In short, I really like ATI. It is a great tool.

My school uses the ATI. Word is that ATI is more difficult than NCLEX, so it's great for preparing for NCLEX. The latest class that took NCLEX at my school had a 100% pass rate. My program is not the type that weeds out any who might struggle with passing NCLEX, either.

Our instructor gives the numerical codes for the tests, then (key), there's a code for getting access to the test. Each of us has a username, password. During orientation, the representative for ATI for our program presented the basics about the testing to us. We were given info as to how to get a hold of ATI if need help. Any problems seem to be handled directly by ATI. There are codes for everything, though.

Our intructor has taken care of everything for us. She recently e-mailed us all the access codes for our practice tests.

we're using ATI in my LPN program. We also have to pass with a 90% (the proctored exams) We have one for each unit (foundations, med surg, etc...) We did the practice exams last week and I only got a 59%, but since we'd only covered 2 of the 5 subjects in our foundations unit I think I'll be ok. My friend who graduated last year did the same system with ATI and she felt like it was a really good indicator of an individual's success on the NCLEX. I have to say, I don't see how many in our class will pass it, but I think some people are going to have to get a bit more serious about what we're learning...

I will say, I'm really glad we have a way to measure what we're learning because even though we're just 2mo in, I'm stressed about the NCLEX:eek:

Also, I think your instructors have to pay extra for the testing codes. We also had an ATI rep come and get us all started, we all have our own passwords and codes for test.

Does anybody know if you retake the practice exam, if it will give you new questions?

we also have ATI in my program.if they let u do it again..it'll give u the same questions you failed first..so make sure you go and review your stuff..good luck.

Has anyone taken the TEAS test,and if so,Is it as difficult as some people are making it out to be/

My school used to do ERI which I thought was a complete waste of money because the test that they had only recycled the questions for the test instead of giving new ones. This is the first quarter that we are using ATI and they still recycle the questions but at least you actually get books with program so I am not as mad aboutnthe money spent. I am in the 2nd level of the nursing program which is actually the first quarter of the program so my group is the first group with ATI from beginning to end unless they change it. We are also the last PN class as of now until they reopen the program.

I can not tell you about the results from personal experience, but if you look at the pass rates for my school our rates went up at the same time that ATI was put into place. We have to pass the exams or else repeat the course, which puts a lot of pressure on. The books are nice short and sweet versions of the subject material.

My school using ATI and I find it beneficial. They are a great quick reference and summarize information really well. We took the exit ATI comprehensive exam last week. Most of my class did well, > 70%. Also, it shows you what information you need to review before you take the NCLEX and gives you a probablitily percentage of passing the NCLEX.

ATI's pretests in many cases are full of incorrect and outdated information. Their post-graduation 3 day NCLEX review is a dog & pony show. I relied solely on that review and the material provided to take my NCLEX and I failed. ATI is a tool used by schools to maintain their accreditation and nothing more. ATI is about making money and I have even had a professor of mine admit to me that she was fairly sure that nurses were not making up the content on the ATI tests. I have taken 100's of snapshots of ATI questions with snipping tool (found in windows 7) and shared them with nurses who flat out say they are wrong! For instance, ATI believes that nurses are the ones who ensure a patient understands a surgical procedure they have upcoming when in fact that is the physicians responsibility. ATI also does not know the difference between side effects and adverse side effects. ATI believes that nurses are responsible for helping victims of physical abuse develop escape plans the next time they are abused. Of course, ALL of these are WRONG. All their NCLEX review did for me was have me study materials I wasn't even tested on when I took my NCLEX. ATI is a complete waste of time and effort. I graduated an accredited university with a Bachelors in Nursing with a 3.25gpa and failed the NCLEX because I relied on ATI to provide a quality review and used their materials to study. What I got turned out to be a bad joke and now a horrible situation. There's a reason ATI doesn't want anyone copying their questions on tests. There's a reason ATI reps won't speak directly to students. There's a reason you can never get a nurse on the line to speak to at ATI. They are trying to cover up the fact that they are in the business of making money, not educating students.
