Are you applying to the May 2011 RN program at MCI VA BEACH????

Anyone out there applying to the RN program at the Virginia Beach MCI campus? My older sister just graduated from MCI and has already landed her first job! The wait to see if I am accepted or not is absolutely killing me. Anyone else???

It is going to be alot. I have actually already started once before years ago and they're taking right around transfer credits from me, but part of me feels like I should go to all those classes anyway just becuse I have to pass the NCLEX. I just feel like once it's done we'll be in a mcuh better place as well and on top of the regular income there is so much opportunity for overtime if you pick up one extra 12 hour shift.

hey guys!

I actually have my interview tomorrow for the rn program in virginia beach.

how did yall do on your teas and pre-req classes??

Hi! So glad someone else has found this forum :)

I got somewhere around 85-87 on the science, 93 on english, and 97 on math.

As far as pre-req's my math course transferred in and I'm currently in the computer and chemistry courses. So far I feel that I am taking to the courses much easier than I thought after being out of school for a few years.

I hope your interview goes well! I'm excited for you and I don't even know you!

My adviser told me to go ahead and do the background/drug tests today between my pre-req courses. So hopefully the interview will follow sometime this week.

Let us know how it goes :D

I guess my interview can't happen until halfway though the chem class...my third chem class ugh!! MCI's class even uses the same book as my TCC class. So I'm thinking sometime next week. Let me know how everything goes you two! Good luck!

thankyou for responding!

I think the interview went really well! My advisor says i have a pretty good chance, so my fingers are crossed.

Oh, and i was told that they do wait for the interview untill your midterm grades are in for the people who are taking the classes right before the program starts, So yall are both going for days??

Good luck! i cant wait till we find out! all this waiting is driving me crazy!

oh, and im supposed to go in for the background test and drug screening this wed. I think a bunch of girls are doing it that day

Glad your interview went well! I have my interview and background check both on Thursday.

Helllo Everyone! I'm not applying for the May 200 RN program but my friend is. I don't like to be the one who spoils things but I need to let you guys know that MCI do bad business. My friend took the Math in October, Chemistry in December and the computer class in Janurary on the hopes that she would start the Jan. class. She went through the interview during her Chemistry class and was told not to worry she should have no problem getting in. She has B in Math, B in Chem and A in Computer. Well, even though she has the Post 911 G-Bill working in her favor for ontime consistant payments they called her and told her she was not accepted into the Jan class. They told her to try Newport News since they have more slots. She called over there and they told her Va Bch campus has to start the paper work for that transfer. Never happened! Then after she told them how disappointed she was they called and said she is going up for the May 2011 class. She has to sign her contract again (which she has done) and now has to do another drug test for the second time and sit and wait. It's a waiting game and very frustrating. :crying2: Did I mention, if you don't get accepted you are responsible for paying for all three classes. Yeah....all about the money. You can't get the transcripts if you haven't paid up. Keep that in mind.

All and all....I think the program is quick and reputable but the process SUCKS!!!! :eek:I wish you all the best of luck with becoming an RN.:)

I do appreciate the info...however, this is my only shot at getting this degree before we have to move. So I've gotta go for it!

Hey! are you in the day or night chemistry class? which days? I'm in Mrs. B's Mon/Wed/Thurs days class right now. I have my interview scheduled for next Wednesday afternoon- so hopefully I will continue doing well in chemistry.

I have also heard about people being turned away and being told they might have a shot at newport news. After talking to my advisor, he broke it down that your admittance is based upon #1 TEAS scores, #2 your GPA, and the essay and letters are the little extra. Also they do want to get a good sense of who you are in your interview. A LOT of the girls who are applying have 4.0s and did really well on the TEAS. It really all depends on who is applying when you are also. Some mods and years are more competitive. I think if anything, that just shows really how competitve MCI really is....

So far I really love the school

My fingers are crossed that Ill be in this year

How is it that they do bad business for not accepting your friend? I have 4 students in my class who did not make the cut at the VA Beach campus and they had A's in their pre-reqs and two of them have previous bachelors degrees and one of those students is GI Bill. They did not get accepted at the VA Beach campus so they ended up getting accepted here in NN. The VA Beach campus has two times the amount of applicants as us and is very competitive. It is not "doing bad business" if your friend could not cut it.

Also why should she not have to pay for her 3 pre-req classes? Go to any school in this state and you will have to pay for your pre-req classes. At MCI if you get accepted to their program they waive them for you.

It is not a waiting game for everyone. I went to MCI for my tour in August, did my only pre-req (Chemistry) in Oct/Nov, interviewed in Nov, got accepted in Jan, and started in Jan.

It is "bad business" to go online and bash an institution you know nothing about based on one friend who did not get accepted and God forbid has to pay for her pre-req classes.
