  1. I have looked into quite a few of these programs. The only thing that turned me off of some of them is that when you get to the point in the program where you are officially working toward the master's and your bachelor work is done you do not get awarded the bachelor's until you are done with the master's. Meaning that if you for some reason are unable to finish the entire program you get nothing. And I also think that as far as my job it would be nice to be awarded the bachelor's when I'm finished with the bachelor's coursework as far as any opportunities that may arise while I am working for the master's. If I could find a school that would award them individually I would definitely do it.
  2. I do appreciate the info...however, this is my only shot at getting this degree before we have to move. So I've gotta go for it!
  3. Glad your interview went well! I have my interview and background check both on Thursday.
  4. I guess my interview can't happen until halfway though the chem class...my third chem class ugh!! MCI's class even uses the same book as my TCC class. So I'm thinking sometime next week. Let me know how everything goes you two! Good luck!
  5. It is going to be alot. I have actually already started once before years ago and they're taking right around transfer credits from me, but part of me feels like I should go to all those classes anyway just becuse I have to pass the NCLEX. I just feel like once it's done we'll be in a mcuh better place as well and on top of the regular income there is so much opportunity for overtime if you pick up one extra 12 hour shift.
  6. Hopefully it is the 3 weeks...I won't have childcare issues or anything, but I just hate no knowing. She said I can't even have an interview until I bring in my print out showing that I changed programs with my GI Bill. But I cant even really do that until the end of April or it will mess things up at TCC. Opportunity Inc. sounds like a good program. I just got out of the Navy in November, so I'm using my GI Bill. I feel very lucky to have that. If it wasn't for the $1500 a month they pay in a housing stipend I wouldn't be able to go back to school. I've heard that a lot a lot of people fail out too. I talked to a girl that was in the LPN program who said at the end there were only 3 of the original people left in the class.
  7. Scores will play a large roll and I'm sure previous grades might as well. I did pretty well on the TEAS. This was my second time taking it and my math and science both went up like 10 points now that I'm taking Chemistry again. My advisor almost makes it seem like some of the stuff is more of a formality than anything, but I'm really not sure. Have you had your financial aid appointment yet? What I gather is that they won't call you for an interview until after that. I guess they want to make sure you can pay the high cost before they go any further with you. I also found out today that they won't tell you if you're accepted until about 2 weeks before it starts. I wish they could give me a little more jtime than that, but I guess I'll have to pick out some classes at TCC just in case.
  8. I want to do days. Nights would mean not paying $500 a month for child care but I wouldn't be able to stand doing nights and weekend clinicals...I would NEVER see my husband. I turned in all my stuff on Monday as well and my financial aid appointment is tomorrow. I'm feeling a little better about it because I got a letter from the school I want to go to saying all I need in order to do their RN to BSN is and ASN degree and pass the NCLEX.
  9. I just got a pair of the Alegria classics in the black patent. I wear whatever socks I want with them. They are so comfy that I'm thinking about getting a pair of the feliz as well in a fun print. The only thing I will mention is I'm a size 10 American which translates to 41 European, the 41 in the feliz fit me okay, but in the classic I needed a 42.
  10. I haven't done the inerview yet, but I think it should go well. Did you go in for yours yet?
  11. I don't want to close any doors especially since I wanted to work for the VA in the first place. But at the same time I NEED a job and I need it when my husband finishes this enlistment with the Navy in less than 2 years or else we will both be jobless which just doesn't work out. The rest of the programs in this area are either too long or won't transfer my credits even though they came from a very good university. I got out of the Navy in December, so it's not like I've been sitting on my butt and now all of a sudden its too late, I just really don't have time to do any other program. I'm feeling very conflicted about it. Although, a caveat to fact that you can't work for the government is that you can still be a government contractor, just not a civil service empolyee. This school has both LPN and BSN programs that are accredited with NLNAC but I don't want to step down to the LPN program that takes the same length of time.
  12. Yes, we are military. Definitely don't plan on staying in Virginia. I emailed University of Central Florida to see if I would still be able to further my education with them and I'm checking on the requirements for the Florida licensure. I start the Chemistry on the 4th at night and I'm ****** about it. I have already taken regular chem and right now I'm in the chem for health professions at TCC. But since I take the final for that on the 6th and start MCI on the 9th they want me to just take thiers. I am not happy at all that sometimes I'll be spending all day away from home as I'm already a full time student.
  13. I'm applying for May. I'm a little worried that they aren't NLN accredited but this is my only option for finishing before we move away. The wait shouldn't be too much longer since everything is due in on March 22.
  14. I have this same question...
  15. If y'all have questions I can probably answer a lot of them. I am supposed to be starting in May. As far as I know it isn't just a first come first serve wait list program. They take 20 day students and 20 night students for each start date. They base admission off your TEAS, 3 letters of recommendation, an essay and an interview. The program is actually 16 months (if you have the 3 prerequisites which are intro to computers, chemistry, and college math or higher. If you don't have them you can take a one month course for each of them at ECPI and you are not charged for these courses as long as you go on to the nursing program). It used to be 15 months but they added another segment of med/surg. It is all inclusive as far as books and uniforms, but I believe the books are recycled, so you wouldn't be keeping them. I am a little worried though because I was thinking it was NLNAC accredited, but now I see that it isn't and is not even on NLNAC's candidate program list. This program is my only option because my husband is Navy and we'll be moving shortly after I finish. It's the only one I have time to complete.
