Apple Watch

Just curious, do any nurses or CNAs have the Apple Watch or are thinking about getting it? Would your employer allow it?

I'm trying so hard to wait for the updated version to come out this year before I buy one! Want one sooooo bad!!!

Have had mine since August and love it still.

I wouldn't recommend it. I do have a garmin vivofit watch which I can swap out bands. Pretty much, I try to keep it covered with my gloves but sometimes the gloves slip down. Ew. So at least I can take it apart and wipe it down.

Sure we can wear them. It is encouraged that we monitor our activity level for our health so sure, we can wear them

I want the apple sport watch because consumer reports says the heart rate tracker is extremely accurate !

For the price tho, I'd hope I could wear it to work/clinicals!

I wanted to update:

I bought the Apple Watch. I've been wearing it to work since I bought it around 2 - 3 mos ago. I noticed that several nurses and MDs also wear one. I love the heart rate and step tracker.

I set set it to the battery saver option, which means I don't get any text or call notifications, which is fine by me.

I like ice that it looks sleek- not obtrusive.

I wore it everyday up until a month or two ago when I sold it to my brother. I LOVED the step tracking feature also being able to feel whether someone is calling me. I sold my Apple watch because I planned on getting the new one (I also bought the watch before the came out with the pink one and was sick of having the black one knowing there was a pink one lol), however, I decided not to get it because it seems the exact same as the previous version. Hopefully the next one will be slimmer or have something extra specially different about it.

I wonder how the coating can withstand those harsh chemicals for disinfection after work?

Which coating are you referring to? The band is all rubber-no coating. The face is made of a strong glass like material--it can be alcohol swabbed.

The face and the surrounding area itself. I think the glass itself can withstand it but I am quite skeptical on the metal coating. Thanks for your response! :)

I have never had a problem disinfecting my watch with antimicrobial wipes, soap and/or alcohol swabs.
