And the waiting continues? ...

In the past month, I have applied online to Humana, Wellpoint, UHG, and Aetna. I am applying for tele health positions, as I'm in a pretty rural area without must opportunity for advancement.

All of the positions still say either "Under review", "Resume acknowledged", applied... and they appear totally stuff in that status.

I applied on-line for all, with resume, cover letter, letter of reference all included, and I did have a chance to chat with a UHG recruiter via their online chats on wednesday, and she told me that I met all requirements for all positions that I had applied for, and that that was a great position to be in... but no status updates yet to any of the job listings. I would love to know if I am at least going to be called for an interview...

What was the time frame generally that you have experienced before a real person contacted you, or your application status was updated?

This will be a little bit of a Career change, as I have been a Psychiatric RN/Case Manager for 6 years at a prison about 35 miles away. Tired of fighting the ice, and would love to not have to drive those roads in the winter :)

Thanks for any guidance you can give, I greatly appreciate it :)

I'm in the same boat. I've applied everywhere including hospitals and insurance companies. I applied for a few positions at Wellpoint and haven't heard a thing. It seems like these types of jobs are very difficult to get.

well, I just got an email from UnitedHealth asking for my ethnicity and gender... hopefully that is a good sign?

That's illegal.

Specializes in Pediatric/Adolescent, Med-Surg.

I really hope you tell them that is optional information you do not feel relevant to the job and are uncomfortable with sharing

They say it is "optional", but those who do not complete will not be considered for further employment. Personally I don't care, I just want the job.

Specializes in Utilization Management; Case Management.

I am applying for telenet as well, but more so field than anything else. I want to get my clinicals and work at 2m if I feel, vs having to sit in one spot at home for 8 hours. Haven't heard from Aetna or Humana, have only applied to Sunshine Health otherwise. The on site reviewers and more seasoned case managers say its not even who you know, its who knows you. Lots of openings but they hire internally first, they by referral then the regular folks. Wishing everyone the best!

I find that fascinating, UHG feels they are so big they can do that? Of course in a face to face interview it's pretty obvious.. but why in the world do they want to know this now?

As I think more about this, I can't imagine any right-minded HR department employee or manager would say this. They would get fired. UHG certainly has policies in place advising all HR employees and managers to avoid this illegal action. Sometimes they may ask this after hiring, and keep it optional, just to complete some EEOC survey.

Your email asked this specifically?

Many companies’ online applications are similar to UHG. I am guessing they can get away with asking those types of questions since they are online and claim it is for a survey.

Techno- Hi. I have applied at the same companies too. I know for Wellpoint, they tend to select hirees in certain states, Virginia is one of them. A friend of mine got hired for a remote telphonic position with Wellpoint, only because she happen to have a Florida nursing license she maintained, and currently resides in Penna. Best of luck!

I recently applied at UHG too. Apparently UHG is required by law since they are a federal contractor. I copied/pasted the email I received requesting ethnicity and gender. See below.
