are you a travel nurse ?

I would have to guess that they are. I personally don't think I could ever do travel nursing unless my kids were grown and my hubby could come with me. Which is what I plan to do once the youngest is out on his own (in 8 years).

Wish I had something cheerful to say, but I can't imagine doing what your doing. Maybe your like me and need connections to real life beyond a puppy. I think your probably home sick.

Good luck sweetheart - maybe you should go home. Sorry - but it seems thats what you need.

Some people do better being alone then others. Some facilities have a lot of Travelers that are able to get together and explore the area. You might be able to mix with some of the other Travelers at the facility.

t sounds like you might also be (I am guessing) missing your family. That is pretty normal. I hope you get to spend regular time back and forth to be with them and them with you. From my standpoint, I love my alone time but always miss my kids when I am gone longer then a weeks time. I feel that tug of needing to know how they are doing and I want to "see" for myself that they are okay.

how do you make it thru your travel being all alone. i travel with my puppy, and leave my family at home. sometimes i feel like i am all alone. my husband doesn't seem to understand how i feel and how sad i am by myself. how do you cope? i try to keep work at work, leaving nothing for personal me.... i am so alone i feel like i am going out of my mind. what is the reason for my being, why am i doing this

traveling w/o family can put a strain on relationship...

talk with husband and see if you can't work this out..make your decidion on what is best for both of you

I didn't start traveling until my kids were grown, but I do miss my husband sometimes. We talk twice a day on the phone and keep up e mails as well. I try to keep my assignments fairly close to home so I can come home on off days. I have worked 6 on 8 off stretches to improve quality of life. I have also had my husband with me on a few assignments. I take off at least 2 weeks if not more between assignments as well.

You will have to work out the details, but I know it is hard, especially if you have kids at home. Traveling may not be for you right now. There is no shame in wanting to be with your family!! Family matters. Protect your marriage and your relationships.

I feel you!! I am not married, but I do miss my family. I just finished cooking my first thanksgiving dinner that I will eat by myself. I requested to have Friday (day after thanksgiv)off through tuesday but was denied:scrying: , so I am stuck 8 hours away from family and friends. So, I just finished cooking and talking to my parents to make sure I got everything just right. My stuffing is too moist though, I continued cooking it and the top got hard but the middle is too moist (go figure). Everything else turned out ok. So this is my first holiday with out my family, but my momma will call me to check on me (she can sense that I an a little lonely at this time). My assignment is up Dec 19th, so I will be home for Christmas Can't wait!! Hope everything gets better for you. Maybe you and your hubby can travel someplace fun and exciting together!!Take care, I'll say a prayer for you!!!

It is lonely traveling without family. I took my 2 cats on my last assignment in Puyallup WA where I didn't know anyone. I made contact with a local dive shop and went scuba diving. That was so much fun!! I was surprized to find out that there were several nurses that I talked with at work who were or had been divers or wanted to be divers so it was a conversation topic also.

I also like to sew quilts. I found that these hobbies helped fill up the lonliness but it sure is nice to come home!!!

What is your personal reason why you've travel alone? Money? See other places? Your hubby is right. You have a family to take care of esp. if you have children. Expect in the future there will be a divorce coming a long way. Is there no job in your state? You can travel locally and if youre family wants a vacation in a state use your agency to go for free as a traveler for 4 week contract. If the reason to make money and you are in debt to pay all of those try to let your hubby understand it or he pay for all of those debt. Maybe, make it only for a year or lesser until debt is paid of.

Enjoy yourself go out more often and make new friends. I don't think it would be a issue for me :)

I know the feeling - "alone", when you are away from family. Leaving family for a career/job is not what I would like to do again. On my shifts off, I felt like I had nothing to come home to.

I left my children with my parents so I can adjust to another place for a nursing job. When I think about it, I don't think I would have done it that way. Even though the job was awesome. But I say, you got to look after yourself and whats important for you first over other things.

I've been traveling alone for two years. My pets and hubby stay @ home. It is lonely. On my current assignment, a friend and I went together and are rooming together. It does make things a lot better. Plus, we are each earning higher than normal wages because we share housing.
