Activities in LTC

So our facility put up a rack of unmarked, lost and found clothes for families to come and go through before they donate them to the goodwill or someplace. The clothes have been hanging from this rack by the day room all week.

I noticed that a lot of our ladies have been "shopping". They stand up go through the clothes and take what they like. It has been keeping some of our wanderers busy. They like shopping. Go figure.

I love it! Sometimes it is the simplest of things that truly becomes an activity they can enjoy :yeah:

What 's going to happen when 2 little old ladies decide they both like the same dress?? :)

If my facility had this.. I know the exact two ladies that would fight over the same dress.

Actually, it doesn't surprise me at all. They don't get out, they don't get to go to the store, they don't get to pick out their own stuff - sounds good to me!

Really? My facility has an activities director that takes certain residents on shopping trips to WalMart. They also go out to eat at restaurants such as Denny's and IHOP. The residents also take the occasional field trip to the Botanic Gardens, the local Zoo, or the movie theater.

Like I said, only certain residents can go. If the resident is heavy, bedbound, aphasic, and receives continuous tube feedings via pump, then they aren't going on any external field trips.

Nope. No field trips. If you have family who'll take you you get to go out.
