This unprintable idiot is advocating that we no longer vaccinate against Tetorifice!!
Note at the top of the page he is asking for "donations" for his "research"
http://www.nccn.net/~wwithin/tetorifice.htm
Who owns this site and is getting these donations? Is it a bogus MD? A qualified biochemist? No the site is purported to be owned by an RN.
Obviously one who has never ever nursed a Tetorifice case!!
How dangerous is this?

Interesting page, gwenith. I appreciate concerns people have about vaccination (even though I don't agree), and am interested in knowing more.
However, this guy...
As for smallpox, even the government finally gave up that vaccine in 1970
Using the fact that the general public are no longer vaccinated for a condition that doesn't exist outside high containment labs as evidence that it is unsafe or invalid is... I'll be generous and say ill-informed. Which makes me question the rest of his argument - which I haven't time to address at the moment. But I'll be back :)

I cannot believe that someone can feel that way about vaccinations. My husband who is 53 and myself keep up with our tetorifice vaccines. I have seen tetorifice and do not wish to again. The reason we have the quality of life we do is due to vaccines. This guy is unbelievable.
And to think a RN has this sight he is on, crazy. Oh, I believe it is a scam. Who solicits for money like that? Very questionable.

I cannot believe that someone can feel that way about vaccinations. I haven't read the site and I am certainly not for fanaticalism...however, there are people whose children have been injured by vaccines....mine included. I'd hate to think that the nurses caring for my kids would be judgemental (not saying you are being judgemental) in their views of vaccines....cause they weren't in my home the day my son stopped breathing from his DPT vaccine. Nor were they there last week when my son was in the hospital and sick and they thought it was the flu and the nurse caring for my son was soooooooo offended I didn't give my diabetic son a flu shot this year....just to find out that he did not have the flu (confirmed by blood tests)...he had a totally different virus.People are too quick to judge when the opinion goes against "normal" medical practice.Again, please don't take this post as an endorsement of that site, because I haven't even looked at it. I just always like to point out the other side of the story on this issue because I feel it helps nurses give more holistic care. Thanks for not attacking me (in advance ) Cassi

I cared for a tetorifice patient once too.
I keep up my vaccine schedule.

When I was in Grade School, before the days of vaccinations, a fourteen year old boy died from Tetorifice. He had a cut on his hand, and worked on a farm. The kind of thing you never forget.
Tetorifice isn't like Smallpox, it's always in the dirt. That RN? is clueless!

i remember a childhood friend in 1960 die from polio. took care of one tetnus case--never forget life and death struggle.
one of my girlfriends decided her son didn't need pertussis vaccine. her child had severe uri so she couldn't babysit my toddlers one week. went to visit child following week, heard that whopping cough and told her suspected whooping cough. she had just changed pediatricians and he had never seen a case. found out later previous docs practice had several patients decline vaccine and they had 5-6 cases. he almost died and she kicked herself for a long time.
lots of good info here:
mmwr: surveillance for safety following immunization: vaers —1991-2001
from children's hospital of philadelphia vaccine education center
before vaccines, parents in the united states could expect that every year:polio would paralyze 10,000 children.rubella (german measles) would cause birth defects and mental retardation in as many as 20,000 newborns.measles would infect about 4 million children, killing 3,000.diphtheria would be one of the most common causes of death in school-aged children.a bacterium called haemophilus influenzae type b (hib) would cause meningitis in 15,000 children, leaving many with permanent brain damage.pertussis (whooping cough) would kill thousands of infants.

Personally, I've never nursed a tetorifice case. But that's probably because of the vancine.
I've went probably 40 years without a vaccination. My bad. I just got it because of a dirty needle stick.

My son had an allergic reaction to pertussis vaccine and cannot take it. To me, I think it is even more important for the children around him to have it to reduce his chances of contracting it.
